Best Time Visit Nozawa
Red, Green, Yellow, Blue and White delight in Nozawa
A few days ago all the colours came to life in Nozawa Onsen. Up at Yamabiko we received our first magic dusting of snow for the season and the way it united with the Autumn “Koyo” colours was spectacular. October is early to get snow in Nozawa and to be honest we are not really ready for it. Prefer to see some more of this beautiful foliage of the Autumn fall and get some great hiking in before the winter snow arrives.

Looking at the forecast we may get another small dusting on Saturday night but it is not really time for snow reports yet. Temps are remaining in the single digits up top though which is good to see. So come on up and bring your hiking boots or mountain bikes as the vistas are gorgeous and nice and cool. Enjoy an Onsen at the end of the day and waltz into your favourite restaurant at night without making a booking while you can. The Nagasaka Gondola runs until this Sunday the 28th of October, then it closes for the Green season. The next time the wheels spin will be when the slopes are ready to ski. I am betting early December this year but will have to wait and see.
Sumer can be really hot in all of Japan and even in Nozawa Onsen. just one month ago in mid September we were still hot under 30 degrees heat in the Village. It was still 10 degrees cooler up on the mountain but it is hot I would say anywhere in Japan June and July are not the most pleasant. Any other time of year and Nozawa is spectacular with the beauty of Spring and the Cherry Blossoms, Summer and the cool mountain streams, Winter and the snow and now the Autumn leaves.
If you enjoy your hiking or Mountain Biking now is the time to get up there and discover all the Japanese mountains have to offer. It doesn’t get much more spectacular than this.
