One Meter Snow Nozawa
Oh what a night in Nozawa! Forget about the “Magic Foot” how about the “Magic Meter!”
90cm of fresh snow overnight for Nozawa and still snowing! Two feet are better than one but Three feet are amazing! We were excited to see a Magic Foot of fresh snow yesterday morning and today we are waking up to Three feet or 90cm of fresh snow! It snowed most the day yesterday but just intensified once the sun went down. It was one of those crazy Siberian storms when the sky was just full of flakes and it felt like would never stop. I have been here for more than 30 winters now and it still amazes me how quickly this place can change and how much snow we can get in a short period of time.
It is going to be an amazing day on the mountain and super deep in places. The base has gone from 50cm yesterday to 130cm today! A huge jump in one night. The resort is opening all of Yamabiko, Uenotaira and heard a rumour Paradise too. So could be a Buna Lunch! Would not surprise me if more opens soon so stay tuned.

☃️ SNOW FORECAST:
Will continue lighter all day and many locals will be grateful to see some sun tomorrow and have a few days to reset. The next decent fall is forecast for Wednesday but not as crazy as this one. This storm should set us up for the season now projecting the base to well over a meter. Great timing for Christmas and all the happy guests rolling into town. Please be very careful out there on the roads and the slopes. It is going to be deep on both. Try not to drive around town if can help it. Also don’t venture too far off piste it is still not ready.
