Today, we’re looking at fairly mild weather with a mix of clouds and sunshine peeking through a thin layer of haze—it’s predicted to clear up even more by midday, making for a beautiful day on the slopes. While there’s not much snowfall today, the excellent visibility offers breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains. At the top of Yamabiko, temperatures hover around -10°C, with a light southerly breeze expected to shift northwest later tonight. This change in winds promises another white delivery arriving Monday morning!
Yesterday was nothing short of amazing, with plenty of sunshine and fantastic powder spread across the mountain. It was one of those days that reminded us just how magical winter in Nozawa can be—perfect for skiers and snowboarders of all levels!
And don’t forget, tomorrow is a big day in the village as the logs for the Dosojin Fire Festival shrine will be dragged through the village from the Hikage slope from 1PM. It’s a sight to behold and an incredible way to experience Nozawa’s rich culture. Make sure to stop by and catch the action if you’re in the village!

The week ahead in Nozawa Onsen brings an exciting mix of conditions! Heavy snowfall is expected tomorrow (Monday), accompanied by moderate to strong winds from the northwest, making it a great day on the mountain. Temperatures will remain chilly, with daytime highs around -5°C to -7°C. From midweek onwards, light snow showers are forecast to continue, with winds easing slightly by Thursday. Looking further ahead, the weekend promises clearer skies and calmer conditions, perfect for stunning mountain views and enjoying time on the slopes. Keep an eye on the evolving forecast as more snow might be on its way next week!
