Nozawa Onsen Spring Snow Report, 23rd March 2019
The official report shows only a single centimetre of fresh Nozawa Onsen spring snow today. However, it wouldn’t be a surprise to find that it’s a bit more as even got some at village level. Either way, a dusting is better than nothing. We’ve just seen a few pretty ordinary, rainy days. Despite that, we’ve heard minimal complaints. Either our guests are too nice, fewer people around make it worthwhile, or it could just be that spring skiing is too much fun regardless.
Whichever of the above is true, things are looking up. It’s cold up top and the report suggests there’s some light snow falling (which we’re seeing a bit of at village level too). That is forecast to continue throughout today and tomorrow morning. Then it’s all about that radiant sun for a few days. Beyond that, Wednesday night looks the most likely to bring a substantial amount. Let’s wait and see.
What’s the official word from the top of the mountain?
At 7:25 am;
Temp at the top; -7C
New snow since close; 1cm
Base at the top; 265 cm
Weather; light snow
It looks as though we’ll be skiing right up until Golden Week in early May. That means there’s still plenty of time to enjoy discounted accommodation and lift tickets during spring. But beyond that, there’s still plenty going on in Nozawa Onsen. Sure, everything moves at a slower pace, but there’s probably more to do during the Green Season.
It’s with that in mind that we decided we’d love more people to enjoy the place in summer. So we’ve put together a deal that means spending a month in Nozawa Onsen over the Green Season is cheaper than renting at home!
Check out the details below (and keen runners don’t forget that Nozawa Onsen will be hosting two events this Green Season).
