Nozawa Onsen Spring Snow Report, 9th of April 2019
This April has been very kind to us. The first couple of days brought us 20 centimetres each and then it got crazier from there for the third and fourth days. After a little bit of respite to enjoy the view, we’ve awoken to yet more Nozawa Onsen spring snow today.
Temperatures look like they might stay pretty low over the next few days. Tomorrow looks like it might even bring us more snow. And here’s us thinking it was April. Many other ski resorts have packed up and gone home and here’s us, still spring skiing and still receiving plenty of spring snow. Literally. It’s snowing lightly right now, as of 7:05 am.
So what’s the official word from the top of the mountain this morning?
At 7:05 am;
Temp at the top; -4C
New snow since close; 15cm
Base at the top; 300cm
Weather; light snow
It’s difficult to believe for some, especially after most other resorts are shut, but we’re open for a few weeks yet. All things falling into place, we’ll be sliding atop Mount Kenashi right up until the 5th of March. That last week of the season also happens to be a big one for Japanese people. Especially so this year given that Golden Week has a few extra days in it in 2019. If that all sounds confusing, check out the post below which should answer any questions.
Beyond that week, sking stops but the Green Season begins. This year, we’re introducing a long-stay deal which means you can spend a month in Nozawa Onsen for less than you can rent at home! Given that there’s more indivudal activites to take part in during summer, that makes for a pretty good deal, we think. Check out the post below and get in touch with us if it sounds good.
