Nozawa Onsen Spring Snow Report, 21st of April 2019
While we’re still here enjoying some very decent spring skiing, it’s worth considering what else is on offer. Nozawa Onsen spring is beautiful in its own right. However, it also provides a great base from which to explore the area. Many of our guests tend to use spring to take day trips to places like Kanazawa, Nagano city, Togakushi, Joestu (pictured), Matsumoto, and others.
Of course, those same places also exist during the Green Season. One of the great treasures of Japan is its distinct changing of the seasons. What was once caked in metres of white springs to life in vibrant green during the warmer months. Snow melts to open up, not only cedar-lined hikes to shrines in the mountains surrounding the village, but also roads to an array of untold treasures among the “real Japan” of rural Nagano and Niigata Prefectures.
Of course, our long-stay deal over the Green Season lends itself to such exploration. Guests can spend a month in Nozawa Onsen for less than the price of rent at home! Of course, you can stay for less than a month too.
Meanwhile, today on the mountain…
There’s a bit of cloud about today but still good spring skiing conditions. Let’s not get overly excited but, as it stands now, there’s fresh snow on the forecast for Friday on top of Mount Kenashi. It’s probably a good idea to simply keep an eye on that and report back later in the week. If we can be sure about anything linked to Mother Nature it’s that she changes her mind a lot.
