February Weather Update Nozawa
Happy Friday everyone! We hope you’re all keen to head up the mountain and not miss a second of this bluebird day.
After three days of consistent snowfall, Friday is shaping up to be a glorious day on the slopes. With the base sitting at just over 3 meters, the mountain has a lot to offer. Clear skies from early morning and throughout the day, accompanied by light winds. The temperature will be sitting at a max of -1 and min of -10, with wind chill hitting similar levels.
With the inundation of fresh snowfall over the last few days, there is still plenty of powder to be enjoyed. Groomers will be flowing nicely with a fresh snow pack on top. Those carving today will have lots to look forward to as well as the powder hounds.
For anyone looking at the back/sidecountry, be weary as this fresh snowfall will be prone to slipping with an ice crust underneath in some spots, as we saw earlier in the season. Practice safe riding with appropriate safety equipment and ride within your capabilities.
The outlook for the next three days is looking rather spring like over the weekend, with temperatures set to rise due to a southerly change on Saturday and temps creeping into the low positives. There’s the possibility of a shower overnight and leading into Sunday with a potential shower in the early morning. But by mid-late afternoon a northwesterly is expected to bring the start of the next Siberian storm/low pressure system set to pass over. Light snow showers will get heavier on Monday where we could see well over half a meter of fresh snow fall.
Stay safe and happy shredding!

We should be greeted again by the sun again all day tomorrow morning but clouds set to close in that night and forecast is for some rain overnight, the result of an unusual warm front passing through and could continue into Sunday morning.
