Haru Yama or Spring Mountain has officially begun in Nozawa
Every year at the end of March regardless of snow depth or the number of guests the Resort closes the lifts at the bottom of the mountain. That day and the start of the Spring Skiing Season started yesterday. You can still ski top to bottom on skiers right down Uenotaira, Paradise and on to the black runs or forest trail but under restriction not 100% sure what that means but probably just to take it easy. Can only ski as far as Hikage then bus back to the Nagasaka Gondola. Most bottom slopes especially south facing are pretty much done now anyway. Up the top at Yamabiko and Uenotaira there is 185cm base so still some fun Spring ski days ahead.

It is a great time to be in town with no crowds on the lifts or in the restaurants. The snow is forgiving and it is nice and warm so the big and small kids will love it
