Snow Japan March Skiing
“Magic Foot” for a Magic March day in Nozawa
You dream of days like these all season but they tend to be even more special in March. The resort reporting 26cm overnight and we probably got 10cm yesterday afternoon so let’s just call it a “Magic Foot”. Temps are nice and cold again down to 5 degrees below, the powder is terrific and not many people about. A few people lined up early to get first tracks, especially as it could be the last good size dump we see for a while.
Temp at the top; -5 degrees
New snow since close; 27cm
Base at the top; 310 cm
Snow conditions; Powder day
Weather; Still snowing lightly but clearing for an awesome day.
Snow Japan March Skiing
Yesterday was pretty hard core when the storm hit with strong winds and pelting snow. Most people ran for cover and the gondola was closed for parts of the day. Winds have calmed right down today however and making for a very pleasant day on the slopes. Looking ahead and no storms on the radar for a week at least, just consistent light winds, warmer temps and sunny days. Just how Spring skiing should be. The Nozawa Onsen Ski Resort is planning to stay open until May 9th so still 2 months to go! If keen to come up it should be lots of fun with some great deals. For now get on up there and make the most of this splendid Winters day. These two shots were taken 24 hours apart showing the affect of this little Siberian storm.
Stay Safe and get into the powder.
