Snowiest Time Year Nozawa
Flashback Friday from Nozawa Onsen
New Years day the 1st of January 2022 at the Shinden Onsen. On this day the Japanese Weather bureau reported Nozawa as the snowiest place in the whole of Japan! We received almost 2 meters of snow in just 2 days, not a bad way to start the New Year. Compare to the second shot of how the Onsen usually looks without any snow on it! Doesn’t look real.
Check out the Snow Report for that day and any other day of the season over the years here; https://www.nozawaholidays.com/accommodation-nozawa-onsen/snowiest-place-japan-nozawa/
May help with planning your next snowy adventure.
Snowiest Time Year Nozawa
In general we always receive the heaviest snow fall in the month of January closely followed by February. This does not necessarily mean January is the best time to come, to be honest if you can avoid it I would. It may be the most snow fall but also the most people by far over any other month of the season
With the School Holidays and the famous Fire Festival on the 15th of January every year it is always a very popular time. If you donate have kids at school to have some flexibility then suggest trying to come at a later date.
The first two weeks of March being my pick as we have all the best still get some fresh snow falls and not many people here. Check out more on March here; Best time to Ski Japan
