Tokyo Nozawa Snow Fall
Tokyo and Nozawa Snow Fall. Stealth snow storm sweeps through Nozawa
30cm or the “ Magic Foot” of fresh snow recorded for Nozawa overnight in what felt like even more. The snow started falling lightly about lunch time and just intensified through the afternoon and into the evening. It was heavy at times, I cleared the steps of my front door 3 times in about 2 hours and the same amount of snow was still sitting there! People returning from slopes late yesterday afternoon saying the powder was already boot high so this morning should be even deeper. Temps are cold and the snow is still falling lightly so get up there as is going to be one of those classic Nozawa days.
⛅️TODAY:

Weather: Light snow

🌄RUNS OPEN: All runs open with the exception of Yunomine A, Kandahar, Mukobayashi and Hachimani
❄️ SNOW FORECAST:
Things are looking good, cold temps and light snow expected to continue for today and tomorrow then we may finally see some sun from Thursday for a few days. The next dump from Sunday is also building and looks like we could see another half a meter of fresh snow over Sunday and Monday. Sunshine should then follow that. So a nice February rhythm setting in at the moment in Nozawa. Anyone heading out of bounds please be very careful as with this good size dump comes increased avalanche danger. It is going to be an amazing day on the slopes so enjoy and stay safe.
Even Tokyo got a good covering of snow last night with about 8cm falling over the city. Not much in Nagano terms but enough to throw a little chaos into the capital. Always beautiful to see the city lights with the fairytale snow. It only happens a few times a year if lucky.
