There is more snow coming!
As the clouds roll in from the west there is more snow on the cards for this late evening. For today groomers will be the pick, it’s the perfect time to get some carving practice in on the well groomed piste, and there is still a bit of powder to be had in between the trees.
The temperature sitting similar to yesterday with minimal wind today, the chill factor is not far off from the the max at -7. Light W winds are forecasted for the majority of the day turning NW in the evening and picking up throughout the night into the morning.
We are super lucky here in Nozawa Onsen to have such a range of choices when it comes to coffee spots and restaurants, most of them being run by Nozawa locals. If you’re here for long enough it is definitely worthwhile checking out as many as you can. One of my favourite’s, Cafe Melia, run by Masayuki and Akane, serves the best bagels and chai lattes, check out their story here; https://www.nozawaholidays.com/holiday-nozawa-onsen-japan/cafe-melia-nozawa-onsen/

FORECAST:
The forecast is showing 10cm + of snowfall for the evening with snow showers continuing into Saturday easing off Sunday afternoon. We should end up with over 30cm for the top. The moderate NW winds pushing the front in will bring the temperatures back down with the chill factor sitting in the low negatives around -20. The front will pass over Sunday evening with Monday looking like a bluebird with warmer temps in the higher negatives and light winds. A few great days ahead for Nozawa to celebrate the semi long weekend.
Happy shredding and be sure to drop into Cafe Melia grab a cake or bagel and say Konnichiwa.
