Times have changed since the start of January when we were looking at a very lean season indeed. 4 Meter Base cracked in Nozawa! It is official we wake up this morning to a 410cm Base at Yamabiko in Nozawa. Always a sign of a good season when we get over 4 meters. The snow just kept coming yesterday and heavy at times and added 20cm to the base line. You can tell it is a big season when the lifties need to dig out under the lifts so people don’t hit their heads! Anyway it is a great season so if have not been up to Nozawa yet, please come on up…

Iiyama Snow Festival Family Fun near Nozawa
Iiyama Snow Festival on this weekend! Both today and Saturday Iiyama City the gateway to Nozawa Onsen is holding its annual Snow Festival. It is a much smaller version of the famous Sapporo Snow Festival. With snow sculptures, rides, shows, fireworks and food stalls. It has a country fair type feel but in lots of snow. The kids love it and nice to check out the local scene. There are igloos, power rangers and snow tube rides all on offer. Cold and snowy as falls continue Nozawa Snow Report 10 February 2017: Stats Base at top: 370 cm Temp at Top: -8 Degree Base at Uenotaira station: 265 cm New snow since close: 25 cm Weather: Snow Nozawa Snow Report 10 February 2017: Overview Heavy snow has fallen overnight and strong winds have battered the village during the early hours of this morning. Luckily these winds have now eased however snow showers continue at moderate fall rates. Since last lifts yesterday to 8am we recorded 25cm at Yamabiko and 15cm in the village.
