New Year Forecast Nozawa Today the Sun sets on another year Hard to believe another whole year has passed us by. They seem to go quicker the older I get. Waking up to a cloudy morning here in Nozawa and temps hovering a bit above freezing level. Yesterday was a beautiful sunny day on the slopes. Conditions up high were good but icy on the lower sections. It is busy up there now too with the New Years crowd rolling in. Unfortunately still no option to ski down so the Gondola downloads are adding to congestion. Just not enough snow down low. Same runs and lifts as yesterday. Unfortunately due to the weather forecast the Fireworks and Night Skiing have […]
More Lifts Open Nozawa
More Lifts Open Nozawa Getting connected in Nozawa Cloudy start to the day here but some good news. The resort is opening some of the bottom lifts to help with the increasing number of guests. The Nagasaka Connector from Karasawa and the Nagasaka and Hikage triples will all open this morning and the cat tracks that join them. Will just make it easier for people to move between the 3 bases and access accommodation and car parks without needing the bus. Will also mean beginners have a few more options. There is a rumour the Beginner Forest trail will open over New Years so that guests can ski top to bottom too. Fingers crossed as would be a game changer […]

Christmas Eve Nozawa Onsen
Christmas Eve Nozawa Onsen Christmas Eve in Nozawa Onsen You should have been here yesterday. Santa arrived early and with him almost a meter of fresh powder snow. Just what the doctor ordered. The snow storm transformed the landscape into a winter wonderland with the brush of a Christmas wand. Many guests arriving were over the moon to arrive on the best day of the season so far. The snow was fresh and it remained cold up top all day so conditions under foot were sublime. The sun even came out and graced us with a beautiful bluebird day. Today is looking pretty similar with the sun just starting to peak out over the top of Mount Kenashi now. […]
