A little more sun for Nozawa today before some heavy snow comes our way
Base at top: 150cm Temp at Top: -4 Degrees Base at Uenotaira: 95cm New Snow since close: 0 cm Weather: fairly clear, clouds developing and winds increasing. It’s been a beautiful few days here. The piste conditions have held up surprisingly well in the past few days, given the warmer temperatures we’ve had combined with some sun. Up top things were starting to get a little icy in parts yesterday afternoon, though there were still plenty of fast turns and smooth runs to be had. Temperatures are going to be somewhat warmer today, possibly softening the snowpack as the day progresses. This being said, Temperatures will drop by tomorrow as some dark clouds are expected to move in. Heavy snow […]

Base at top: 160cm Temp at Top: -4 Degrees Base at Uenotaira: 115cm New Snow since close: 1 cm Weather: clear skies for the time being, clouds and light snow predicted in the afternoon. Mild winds Yesterday we saw fairly clear skies for most of the day, temperatures were fairly fresh, much like the snow conditions. There’s still some great snow around from the dump we got midweek, particularly at higher altitudes and on the quieter slopes such as Karasawa or the runs leading down to the Nagasaka gondola midstation. For the moment the skies are looking fairly clear, though prospective clouds should move over Nozawa at some point today, with light snow expected to fall in the afternoon. Temperatures […]

Cold front expected bringing snow to Nozawa

Snow and cold temps expected tonight Some light snow was falling yesterday though it stopped prematurely and left us with some sun around the mountain. There were still some decent runs to be had up top at Yamabiko, and with fairly quiet slopes, the skiing was nothing short of enjoyable. The slopes lower down were still quite icy, though judging from the skies and the forecast that could change soon. We should be seeing darker clouds moving in later in the day, as a cold front moves over Nozawa bringing snow with it. Temperatures will plummet […]

We’ve got 5cm of fresh during the night to cover the slopes; not a lot but it could keep coming and accumulating over the day. The pistes were fast yesterday, though were becoming quite icy in parts so this snow should give us some more edge hold especially on the steeper terrain. Yamabiko was popular yesterday, with the best snow being found higher up and the weekend crowds all getting some last runs in before heading home last night. Now […]
