It’s not exactly Japow’s usual deep deep snow, but any snow is better than none. The groomers should be nice and fast today and hopefully less crusty than yesterday. They’re nice and fluffy, and it almost looks like they’re falling in slow motion. Though today’s snowfall won’t be a big dump, we’ll still be getting a nice top up for the resort. We should see snow falling throughout the day getting slightly heavier in the afternoon. Winds have picked up a little bit so the windchill factor is down to -20 degrees. Stay warm up there! We were spoilt with light clouds and calm skies on Saturday, followed by blue skies all of Sunday. We had some great powder riding on Saturday morning  with a few lesser known sections still untracked on Sunday. The low temperatures kept the snow fresh for the whole weekend. Yesterday we woke up to just over 20cm of fresh snow  with the sun breaking through some of the clouds by nine in the morning. Base at top:  155 cm Temp at Top; -6 Degrees Base at Uenotaira  130 cm New Snow since close: 20 cm        Weather: Light snow, mild winds Shoveling out the sled early this morning Yesterday’s odd conditions, including some fairly wet snow and even a spur of rain, got us all a bit worried. However that was soon all eased after the snow started to fall heavily again in the afternoon and all night long. We received a few centimeters throughout the day yesterday and twenty centimetres since the closing of the lifts yesterday. There’s some good powder to be found up there! Base at top:  145 cm Temp at Top; -2 Degrees Base at Uenotaira  115 cm New Snow since close: 0 cm        Weather; Sunny at times, some snow showers higher up The great snow we received over the weekend stayed nice and fresh throughout yesterday’s bluebird day, with some decent powder still to be found. We’re hoping it stays just as fresh today and that the pistes will be nice and fast. In any case, it should be a cracker of a day again today. Yesterday in the powder Our mountain was blessed with heavy snow all of yesterday morning, bringing our base up to 150cm and giving us a good 25cm of fresh powder to play with all day long. The skies cleared and left us with beautiful sunshine all afternoon. The blue skies are here once again today, with temperatures sitting at a warmer -6 degrees and winds being practically nonexistent. Unfortunately there won’t be snow falling for a couple of days, but we’re hoping that the snowpack stays fresh and fast throughout these sunny few days. […]
