Ready, set, snow! A very Merry Christmas to everyone from all in Nozawa Onsen
Santa managed to drop some snow up top for us last night. Just a few centimetres this morning and it’s going to continue snowing for the rest of the day. The freezing level at the moment has just reached the village altitude; it’s snowing! The snow should keep falling all afternoon and will continue to build up over Saturday and Sunday. We’re hoping to open more of the resort soon. Which run are you looking forward to opening the most? What originally looked like a harsh, short storm a few days ago has now eased into a more moderate storm but spread over a day or two more. So up top is looking good and www are hoping for a white […]

Base at top: 40 cm Temp at Top; 2 Degrees Base at Uenotaira 35 cm New Snow since close: 5 cm Weather; Sun creeping through the clouds Conditions on the slopes yesterday were fairly good; the fog lifted early in the day and we got views of mountains and valleys all around, although the wind was quite strong. Today is looking like it’ll be somewhat foggier but with much milder winds. Some snow should start falling up the top this evening and will gradually get heavier throughout tomorrow as the storm progresses. It’ll be getting cold over the next three days, reaching -13 with a windchill of -25 on Sunday. The cold temperatures will keep the snow dry and […]
Two sleeps ’til CHristmas
Base at top: 50 cm Temp at Top; -2 Degrees Base at Uenotaira 45 cm New Snow since close: 5 cm Weather; Sun creeping through the clouds The cool and cloudy conditions of yesterday kept the snow steadily falling at higher altitudes. The base is looking nice and the saplings and grass roots on the slopes have practically all disappeared. We received another 5cm up top yesterday so get out on those groomers for a bit of fresh snow! Down in the village there was some rain which has unfortunately washed away most of the surrounding snow. Snow should start falling on Christmas Eve though so we’re hoping to wake up to a white Christmas! The snow will continue falling […]
The future looks promising
Base at top: 45 cm Temp at Top; -2 Degrees Base at Uenotaira 45 cm New Snow since close: 15 cm Weather; Cloudy, foggy Yesterday was cloudy up the top but wasn’t as cold as it looked. I think that we’ll be grateful for the capsule chairlifts soon once it starts getting really cold. There was consistent moderate snow through yesterday afternoon which added a little bit more to our base and kept the slopes a bit softer throughout the day. We woke up to rain in the village this morning but looking up to the mountains we can see the snow line at about 300m above the village. The report is showing 15cm of fresh overnight […]

Today, There will be some light snow throughout; we’re looking at around 8cm in the afternoon and night, and then a few days down the track we’ll be getting a massive dump for christmas! A hefty system looks like it’ll be forming on Friday night and […]
What a great start to the season
The lifts started turning yesterday and we received a steady falling of snow throughout the day. Day two up on the slopes is going to be a good one with blue skies all around and no wind. It’s not going to get above zero so it will still be fresh up top. The next few days are looking okay with a couple of small showers forecast over the week before a predicted large dump over christmas. This should get us into the christmas spirit. The opening of Gondola Cafe was a big success. The Cafe also serves as a meeting point for Nozawa Holidays’ lessons so don’t hesitate to grab a hot drink or a bite to eat before […]

After some patchy snowfalls yesterday morning, we were rewarded with a solid dump in the afternoon and through the night.
