Strong Winds & Fresh Snow
Strong Winds & Fresh Snow Strong Winds & Fresh Snow We woke up to some strong winds today, with gusts reaching up to 65km/h at the top of the mountain! Due to the high winds, the main gondolas and upper lifts are on hold for now, with only the lower mountain areas open with some good riding options at Hikage station. It might be the perfect morning to take it slow, grab a warm coffee, and relax while we wait for conditions to improve. ☕️ Yesterday, we were lucky to get a beautiful break of sunshine, revealing stunning views from the top before the winds picked up again. Looking ahead, the weekend is shaping up to be […]
A little ray of sunshine
A little ray of sunshine A little ray of sunshine Have to admit it is nice to see the sun again! After over a week of non stop heavy snow, had almost forgotten what it looked like. What a snow storm that was, probably as intense as the huge system we copped at the start of the season and it delivered the 2.5 meters expected with some change. Just a dusting up top overnight not the usual 50cm 🙂 There will still be so much powder up there to enjoy and will be nice to hopefully see some corduroy lines for a change. Know many are trying to book for next season and sorry for any delays […]
A Break in the Storm
A Break in the Storm A Break in the Storm The snow gods have given us a bit of a breather after the relentless storm that built up an impressive 385cm snow base at the top of the mountain! Will be even deeper out there today so grab the snorkel stay safe and have an amazing day. There was talk of the Gondola closing due to high winds but […]
Nozawa Onsen Delivers!
Nozawa Onsen Delivers! Nozawa Onsen Delivers! Getting a bit like ground hog day here waking up to heavy snow on a daily basis. Making for some amazing powder snow conditions on the mountain. Plenty of hard work for the locals with shovelling and spare a thought for our hard working Postman, delivering rain hail or 50cm of powder snow! Just 10cm of fresh overnight compared to the 50cm yesterday morning but the snow machine has gone into overdrive since the lifts opened so would say there is another 10cm plus already this morning. If you love your powder then you would have been in seven heaven this last week in Nozawa. More to come with over a […]
