A Beginners Guide | Skiing vs Snowboarding
A Beginners Guide | Skiing vs Snowboarding Which one should I learn? There is a lot of planning involved when it comes to your first winter holiday. One of the main questions we get asked is “which is easier to learn?” or “what should I learn first?” There is an old saying that you will hear around the Ski resort, “Skiing is easier to learn but harder to master, whereas snowboarding is harder to learn but easier to master.” The truth is that people learn at different rates and choosing one or the other comes down to personal preference. Both have their pro’s and con’s when it comes to learning but it is safe to say that skiing is generally […]
Early Snow Conditions Japan
Early Snow Conditions Japan Get your Snow Dance on! Parts of Japan saw some healthy early falls of snow over the last few days. Can also see dustings of white across the valley at Myoko. The top of Nozawa may have got a little but the Mountain cams are in clouds still so hard to tell. Anyway Winter is definitely on the way and wont be too long before the streets of Nozawa look like this. Always amazing to see and experience. I prefer to go without the umbrella and feel the beauty of the snow falling on your face. Day Trips from Nozawa Onsen A lengthy skiing holiday in Nozawa Onsen holds plenty of things to do. Mostly ski! However, day trips from Nozawa Onsen can really break things up quite well. Likewise, visiting during the quieter, warmer months means it’s a bit easier to hit the road (less stress of driving on the snowy roads, fewer people around, etc.). Nozawa Onsen Summer v Winter; a Comparison
Nozawa Onsen Summer v Winter There’s a really good chance most of us are here reading this post because we like seeing what our favourite little ski town looks like when it’s green. With that in mind, we don’t have to point out that Nozawa Onsen is among the best powder destinations you could ever hope to find. Nor do we really have to mention how unique it is to find a traditional Japanese town and free public onsens at the base of the mountain. Given that we already know about winter, how does the Green Season compare? Hitting the Slopes Of course, the slopes are still there but they tend to turn into one of two things; farming land […]

First Snow Nozawa 2018
First Snow Nozawa 2018 We were just talking today about this time last year and it being exactly One month from today on November 17th 2017 that we had a great fall of snow and the top of Nozawa Onsen was converted into a Winter Wonderland. Try a Powder Board in the land of Powder
Try a Powder Board in the land of Powder Japan winter tourism has grown rapidly over the last decade with the ever increase in powder hungry tourists. First of all, welcome to Japan. Epic Powder awaits you in the land of the rising sun. Most people come to Japan with hopes of riding the deep stuff and a question we get asked a lot is ‘what is the difference between a powder board and a normal board?’ Well the good new is, you don’t actually need a powder board to ride powder. A snowboard rides powder snow a lot differently than what a pair of skis do. This is largely due to the construction of a snowboard and the surface […]
