A sunny day to finish off January A sunny day to finish off January What a surprise to wake up to yesterday with 50cm of snow. Came out of nowhere and was very well received. It kept snowing until around lunch time when we saw the sun appear and the afternoon was magical. We woke up to a beautiful morning today! We are still looking good for this next snow dump due for Friday. It’s looking like a solid 4 days of goodness. Get out there and enjoy this beautiful sunshine. Happy end of January! Nozawa at its best Good morning everyone! Well what a way to wake up hey 🙂 fluffy fluffy snow fallen overnight. There will be some shovelling happening today and even more fun to be had on the mountain! Get your powder skis out we think they might be put to good use today! Starting the week right in Nozawa Onsen If you were lucky enough to be one of the first up the mountain yesterday you were treated to Yambiko at it’s perfection. Fresh powder, no tracks and glorious sunshine. 15cm is on the cards for today and 6cm for tomorrow. The sun should be out a little more then last week with the temperatures still staying low. Next weekend the larger dump is still predicted to hit around Saturday so we’ll see how those predictions play out this week. What a way to start your week then on the mountain in Nozawa Onsen. *Sunny* Sundays in Nozawa We’ve had a very snowy week here in Nozawa and as a special Sunday treat the sun is predicted to peak out today. No end in sight yet though. Snow will continue to fall through tomorrow with temps dropping again. Next week sees the beginning of Feb starting off with a bang with a half of metre of snow predicted! The weekend is full of powder We had magic snow here in Nozawa yesterday and we woke up to snow again this morning so the powder will be easy to find. Visibility will be clearer on the lower runs and we have a chance of seeing the sun tomorrow. Light snow will continue throughout the week and then Friday should bring another heavy fall for the weekend. A little late but our January is finishing strong with now over a metre fall in the last week and will lead us in to a fabulous February. Aussie Powder Day It’s been amazing up there this morning with Yamabiko opening up after being closed yesterday, as you can see, this is why we’re here and we’re getting the powder we’ve wished for. Visibility is better on the lower runs and plenty of fun to be had down there also. Forecast is showing a lighter snowfall tomorrow with the possibility of some sun on Sunday and then straight back into it on Monday and Tuesday with a steady prediction of snow. Powder everywhere A slightly later snow report today. We were out early grabbing some footage for you. Our base is finally back over that 3m mark and there is powder everywhere. Today we are expecting another 20cm and these conditions look to continue through to Saturday morning. Yamabiko is closed at the moment due to poor visibility, the snow up there will be amazing once it reopens! Remember to stay safe in these conditions on the mountain and around town. Tonight’s the night! Cold temps in the village today means it’s colder up the mountain. With this cold change we’ve also been getting the snow we’ve been waiting for. 17cm overnight! Plenty to of fun to be had all throughout the day. Snow is expected throughout the morning and then heavier fall starting this afternoon. White wonderland We woke to a white wonderland this morning after 15cm of snow. Should be more to come tonight with tomorrow bringing some heavy snowfall. This is just the beginning of a very snowy week and the temperatures are dropping. Thursday and Friday should see the temp dropping to -16℃ at top and -8℃ in the village.
