After a spectacular clear starry night a cloud front moved in around breakfast and we are currently experiencing some light snow which should continue for the rest of the day. This sorely needed top up has returned Nozawa Onsen to the magical winter wonderland that we all know and love, with seemingly limitless fresh lines and many buried cars. After a bit of a snow drought everyone was keen to get up for first lifts this morning and those who did certainly scored! It was an interesting morning yesterday. The clouds soon cleared and now we have had some sun making an appearance so it looks like a beautiful day for riding and the groomers will be in fine form to lay down a few carves as they soften up in the sun. Was a beautiful day on the slopes yesterday with the great vistas above the clouds and sunny on the higher slopes. Snow conditions were great up high too but a bit heavy down lower. Pretty cloudy today and looks like they should be snow clouds with the temps dropping. Getting down to 0 degrees at Sea Level by tomorrow night. We may not see the sun again until next Saturday. People were rolling down the mountain with grins from ear to ear and powder falling out of every pocket. Today is a bit overcast and just 1cm of fresh overnight. Should still be great conditions out on the slopes with powder stashes if search a little. The cold temps will probably keep the groomers pretty fast.
