After a spectacular clear starry night a cloud front moved in around breakfast and we are currently experiencing some light snow which should continue for the rest of the day. There are still quite a few fresh tracks to be found around the resort if you know where to look and the skiing is excellent in all areas of the resort. Light snow flurries continued overnight giving a minor top up to the cover. However the dawn saw the clouds part and give way to sun and perfect blue skies. This is one of those days to remember with plentiful deep snow, minimal wind and excellent visibility. This sorely needed top up has returned Nozawa Onsen to the magical winter wonderland that we all know and love, with seemingly limitless fresh lines and many buried cars. Base up top: 215 cm        Temp Top; -7 Degrees Base at bottom; 105 cm New Snow since close: 50 cm Weather; Dumping Epic conditions this morning are only improving with consistent heavy snowfalls and 50cm of overnight. After a bit of a snow drought everyone was keen to get up for first lifts this morning and those who did certainly scored! It was an interesting morning yesterday. The warm conditions gave way to a cold front which moved over the region in the afternoon. Base up top: 170 cm Temp Top; -3 Degrees Base at bottom; 75 cm New Snow since close: 1 cm Weather; Sunny clouds rolling in Clear skies last night gave way to a few snow flurries this morning with just a centimeter freshening up the cover up top. The clouds soon cleared and now we have had some sun making an appearance so it looks like a beautiful day for riding and the groomers will be in fine form to lay down a few carves as they soften up in the sun. Not sure what time it started but we got 10cm out if it up top. Nice change after the rain we got hit with yesterday. The sun is shooting thru now so should shape up to a pretty reasonable day on the slopes. Yesterday the snow was good up top but a bit heavy going on the lower slopes. Base up top: 190 cm        Temp Top; 3 Degrees Base at bottom; 110 cm New Snow since close: 0 cm Weather; Cloudy Has been a pretty warm night in Nozawa, didn’t need to rug up too much heading for the nightly Onsen. Was a beautiful day on the slopes yesterday with the great vistas above the clouds and sunny on the higher slopes. Snow conditions were great up high too but a bit heavy down lower. Pretty cloudy today and looks like they should be snow clouds with the temps dropping. Getting down to 0 degrees at Sea Level by tomorrow night.  We may not see the sun again until next Saturday. Base up top: 200 cm        Temp Top; 3 Degrees Base at bottom; 100 cm New Snow since close: 15 cm Weather; Sunny up top with a cloud layer As expected a bit of a spike in the temperature today with warmer temperatures and sunshine up top.Had another surprise snow fall last night with 15cm gracing the upper slopes. Should make for great conditions up top but a bit heavy going down below. There is a bit of motion about town today with the New Year crowd starting to roll in. People were rolling down the mountain with grins from ear to ear and powder falling out of every pocket. Today is a bit overcast and just 1cm of fresh overnight. Should still be great conditions out on the slopes with powder stashes if search a little. The cold temps will probably keep the groomers pretty fast.
