That alone is 150cm total and then there is all the snow that fell in the day time too. The base has hit a new peak for the season topping out earlier today at 480 cm thats 5cm above the earlier peak. Rentals Lessons Accommodation Nozawa In a day of Twos we have almost Too Much Snow in Nozawa Close to another half a meter of fresh snow again overnight with the resort reporting 42cm falling since close of lifts. It snowed all day yesterday too and the base has jumped to a massive 465cm today! With heavy snow expected all day and into tonight I would say there is a good chance we will smash thru the peak base so far this season of 475cm. The question is will we get to the 5 meter mark? Toilets Nozawa Onsen Japan One very cool Restroom in Nozawa A before and after shot for your Tuesday viewing pleasure. Who knows where this hut is located on the mountain in Nozawa? A hint it is the highest toilet in town. The first shot was taken yesterday with almost a 4 meter base, the second shot was on opening day Nov 30th when there was about 50cm base! Long Weekend Ski Japan One of the busiest days of the Season in Nozawa The February long weekend has traditionally been a big one for Japanese ski resorts. Celebrating National Foundation day and remembering all the efforts by our forebears from years gone by. Lots of folk up from Tokyo to ski and have a fun weekend in Nozawa. Lift lines were as long as have seen almost any day this season and we thank everyone that made the trip up. Web Cams Nozawa Onsen Snow Gods finally taking a rest in Nozawa Everyone was pretty happy to see the sun yesterday. None more than our local Postman. Now he just needs to dig out all those letter boxes. There should be a few people sending it today too 🙂 Amazing day on the slopes yesterday and everything up high and down low just looks incredible with marshmallow like snow all over the place. Average Snowfall Nozawa Japan Snowfall for the history books in Nozawa! There you have it we are having the biggest snow season for at least 10 Years. We totalled 120cm yesterday and another lazy 40cm overnight. The total for this storm now over 2 meters but I am starting to lose count. Base now at 475cm this morning so exceeding the 2014/15 season peak. Forget about cars getting buried, some buildings are starting to disappear. The Weather Bureau of Japan has Nozawa sitting at Number 1 for most snowfall over the day yesterday in all of Japan. It is also the most snowfall for the start of February in history they are saying. Record Snow Fall Nozawa Holy Moly maybe the biggest dump of the season and base hits 450cm in Nozawa! Never under estimate what Mother Nature can throw at us in Nozawa. A huge 70cm dump of fresh snow falling on our heads overnight and still snowing hard. I had a feeling we may flirt with the 4 meter mark today but 4.5 meters. What an epic season. Snow Dance Nozawa Onsen Someone has been doing their Snow Dance in Nozawa Waking up to another “Magic Foot” overnight in Nozawa and the tap is still fully turned on. Currently snowing nicely in town as people make their way up to the lifts and a morning coffee. Drop into see Sumika san at Gondola Cafe in Wabi Sabi if heading up. Nozawa Onsen Snow Sign Who has touched the sign in Nozawa? Anyone that has visited Nozawa knows this road sign at the top of Uenotaira run just after you get out of the Nagasaka Gondola and head down hill. It is part of the road that leads from Nozawa across the top of the mountains to Shiga Kogen. It is not every season you can touch it, depends on the snow depth I am guessing it is about 5.5 meters above the ground in summer so now pushing a 350cm base if you jump a bit you should be able to just about reach it!
