Best place to visit Japan Golden Week and Silver Trees in Nozawa The long Japanese holiday is in full swing and plenty of people up on the slopes taking in the last skiing of the season. The beautiful Buna trees also put on a show giving us perhaps the last “Frozen Broccoli” scene for the winter. Natural Half Pipes Nozawa Nice in the Natural half pipes in Nozawa Coming to the very tail end of the season but still a bit of fun to be had up top at Yamabiko and banking side to side in the natural half pipes formed in the gullies up there. Great little clip by Saki san posted yesterday enjoying a beautiful day in the spring conditions. Not so pretty up there today with lots of fog and some rain. Best Runs Nozawa Onsen Yamabiko crossroads, run decisions in Nozawa Who remembers coming off the top chair lift in Nozawa the Yamabiko 4 and heading to your right and down this run? Endless opportunities await. You can go skiers left and head down to Skyline and ski the whole 7kms from top to bottom. Take a sharp right and head down the natural Half Pipe of Yamabiko. A balmy 12 degrees up top and some fun spring slush on offer up at Yamabiko. A few local crew hitting the natural half pipes yesterday. Ski Work Onsen Nozawa Japan April Angel Dust for Nozawa This shot from up at Yamabiko Yesterday. Looks ok for mid April! Have had a few little dustings up top over the last couple of days which have freshened things up a bit and made it look really pretty with the trees. The base is as expected receding but still holding in there with over a meter up top and should be good to slide all the way down to Paradise over the weekend. Just need to be ready and in luck, over the years I would say it is rare we don’t get some powder days in April in Nozawa or nearby at Shiga Kogen which is a bit higher. April Snow Nozawa Japan April Snow shower for Nozawa Woke up to snow falling lightly in the village this morning creating a beautiful back drop to the fresh Blossoms blooming around town. Has been a while since we saw snow fall and always a nice surprise in April . The resort reporting 5 cm of fresh up top so just a dusting but looks beautiful up at Yamabiko with more white trees.
