Nozawa Onsen Snow Report 19th March 2019 Yesterday was one of those perfect days on the mountain in Nozawa, a bluebird with some fresh snow cool temps early and crystal clear blue skies. You could see all the way to the Sea of Japan. Going to be hard to beat that day, today is looking like another sunny one but will warm up pretty quickly and no doubt be a bit slushy below. We love the spring slush though 🙂 The forecast is indicating that we are in for some rain tomorrow which can be expected with these high temps but the good news is that it is going to drop swiftly on Friday and more snow expected. The […]

Cheap Ski Holiday Japan
Cheap Ski Holiday Japan Japan is quickly becoming a terrific country to visit all year round. I was reading a Lonely Planet guide from the 80s and it said something like Japan has snow but not really worth going for the skiing. Haven’t things changed! Japan is now firmly on the map as a World Class Ski Destination. When I first cam to Nozawa 28 Years ago there were no overseas guests visiting this little town. I was one of the only non Japanese skiers on the mountain for about 15 years. Fast forward to now and overseas skiers make up over 25% of the total ski population in Nozawa Onsen. Go against the tide come in the shoulder season […]

Nozawa Onsen Spring Snow Report, 15th of March, 2019 What a day yesterday turned out to be! We awoke to a Magic Foot (and then some) of fresh Nozawa Onsen spring snow. The sky then cleared for a glorious bluebird day. Of course, being a Thursday in March, there weren’t too many people to share the runs with. A day like that simply cannot be beaten! Perhaps it can be equalled though. The forecast has changed a million and one times over the past few days but there does seem to be more than a handful more to come. It’s looking like either tonight will be the most fruitful. We’ll just have to wait and see. One thing we can […]
