Sunshine After Powder Days
Sunshine After Powder Days A bit of sun after the last few days of powder fun Great time to be in Nozawa, we have had an epic few days on the hill with this late February snow fall. Tuesday was amazing when the snow just kept falling and yesterday was just as good with plenty of powder up for grabs all over and amazing conditions under foot on the slopes. It snowed lightly most of the day and was nice and cold keeping everything fresh. Plenty of smiles sliding down the slopes all day. Was almost surprised to see the sun and blue skies this morning but the fair weather skiers will be revelling and it is going to […]
Nozawa’s Late Season Game-Changer
Nozawa’s Late Season Game-Changer Nozawa’s Late Season Game-Changer Waking up to another 20cm of fresh snow overnight. Total of this Siberian Snow storm to 75cm and changing the landscape here in a few short days. Last week I was gong to hang up the powder planks for the season, this morning they are waxed and waiting at the door step as the snow continues to fall here in Nozawa. Yesterday snowed all day and was fantastic and today could be even better. Tracks were getting filled and the bottom was soft as we lapped the courses up at Yamabiko. The added bonus of this time of the season is there is not too many people about to […]
Winter Comeback in Nozawa Onsen
Winter Comeback in Nozawa Onsen Winter Comeback in Nozawa Onsen Be careful what you wish for. Waking up to blizzard like conditions today in Nozawa. The resort reporting an impressive 35cm so more than the “Magic Foot” of fresh snow up top overnight. The base has jumped back up to the 2 meter mark. The Siberian snow gods have also brought with them strong northerly winds. It was unsure whether the gondolas would open this morning but can report they are both operational at the moment Nagasaka and Hikage Gondolas. Winds are set to ease through the day so hoping all will stay running. The snow is falling like pellets down low rather than flakes so will be interesting […]

Yesterday’s morning freeze covered the trees on the top of the mountain creating beautiful landscapes to admire with light snowfall joining for the show later in the afternoon. Good Looking Week Ahead
Good Looking Week Ahead Good looking week ahead for Nozawa After what was probably not the best week of the season the next week is looking good starting tonight with snow expected and set to continue all day tomorrow and into Tuesday. Today is looking fun out there, some high level cloud cover so visibility looks good up top and the trees have a white coat at Yamabiko. The groomers should be fast early and crowds should start to dissipate as the day goes on. The long weekend was busy around town but I predict it will be a lot quieter from tomorrow and then quieter again from next week as we hit March. We had a last […]
Wintery weekend in Nozawa
Wintery weekend in Nozawa Wintery weekend in Nozawa Has been a cold few days in Nozawa and this morning is also frosty in the trees and knees. Light snow still falling out the window this morning and there has been a little dusting for the top again. Cloud encasing the mountains above the village at the moment but should clear for a sunny Saturday ahead. Yesterday saw similar varying conditions on piste with some icy sections but also some great runs and all that went up had a good time. Everything will have been well groomed again overnight and should soften up under the sun. ⛅️TODAY: Temperature at the top: -6 ℃ New snow since yesterday: 1cm […]
Spring Like Vibes in Nozawa
Spring Like Vibes in Nozawa Strong winds with warm temps today and a cooldown on the way A bit of a windy one up there on the mountain today, enough to put the gondolas and lifts servicing the higher parts of the resort on hold. So, if you were planning on sending it up to the summit, might want to hold off for a bit and enjoy the lower part of the mountain for now with plenty of lifts and runs still in operation. Thanks to high temps and quite a bit of sunshine this morning the snow condition on the slopes could be soft, making any falls more enjoyable. Yesterday had a perfectly clear sky weather and springlike […]
