Ice Skating Nozawa Onsen A real Nozawa Ice bath – Would you take the plunge? As we said Spring has arrived but still nice and cool down at the lake. Looks like it is still partially frozen over but not sure I would be lacing up the ice skates. Would guess that water temp is just a few degrees above zero. Anyone keen for a dip? The good folk at Cosmic Sauna have set up next to nearby Lake Hokuryuko and you can enjoy a nice hot sauna then a refreshing ice bath afterwards. Very good for the body apparently. Ice Skating Nozawa Onsen Spring conditions continue on the slopes Temps sitting at 4 degrees up top and base at […]

Japan Bookings Open 2023
Japan Bookings Open 2023 Ground Hound Day with another 50cm of fresh overnight in Nozawa This is the 3rd day in a row we are reporting half a meter of fresh snow overnight. That alone is 150cm total and then there is all the snow that fell in the day time too. The base has hit a new peak for the season topping out earlier today at 480 cm thats 5cm above the earlier peak. I need to check the records but it is also the highest snow base we have seen in at least a decade most likely longer. The Powder Hounds were certainly rejoicing with face shots all over the resort. It has kept snowing most of the […]
Rentals Lessons Accommodation Nozawa

It snowed all day yesterday too and the base has jumped to a massive 465cm today! With heavy snow expected all day and into tonight I would say there is a good chance we will smash thru the peak base so far this season of 475cm. The question is will we get to the 5 meter mark? Rentals Lessons Accommodation Nozawa Have not seen that for a long time but on the old totem pole up at Yamabiko there is record of […]

Long Weekend Ski Japan
Long Weekend Ski Japan One of the busiest days of the Season in Nozawa The February long weekend has traditionally been a big one for Japanese ski resorts. Celebrating National Foundation day and remembering all the efforts by our forebears from years gone by. Lots of folk up from Tokyo to ski and have a fun weekend in Nozawa. Lift lines were as long as have seen almost any day this season and we thank everyone that made the trip up. Was tricky to find a park sometimes 🙂 It was a bit of a mixed bag on the slopes, snowing lightly up top but the snow was almost slow going down low. The resort reporting 5cm of fresh overnight […]
