March madness finale? March madness finale? Yesterday, we experienced a few different seasons in Nozawa Onsen. From snowy mornings under cloudy skies to radiant afternoons bathed in sunshine. The snow quality persisted, thanks to the 12cm top-up of powder we recieved the night before. This potentially marking the season’s last epic powder day! The crowds certainly didn’t let it go to waste. Today is looking like it will be sunny throughout the morning, with the chance of cloud coverage later on. Cool, sun-filled days in Nozawa Onsen Cool, sun-filled days in Nozawa Onsen As winter gradually gives way to spring in Japan, the transition brings about a unique and obvious transformation. The mornings here in Nozawa are still starting off crisp and cool. Gradually, as the day progresses, the sunshine beams through, keeping us warm during the day. This has been a delayed transition this year in Nozawa Onsen. Although we have witnessed these conditions the last couple of days, we have been blessed with a longer than usual winter (zero complaints). Spring has sprung in Nozawa Onsen Spring has sprung in Nozawa Onsen Yesterday, we welcomed some glorious t-shirt weather! The sun graced the day from mid-morning and stuck around until dusk, casting a delightful glow on everything around. Seeing the number of people out and about in town and around the mountain was a sign that these warmer days are certainly being welcomed by all. Spring Skiing Bliss Spring Skiing Bliss Embrace the unexpected in Nozawa Onsen! Yesterday’s sudden strong winds had led to the suspension of upper lifts and gondolas, with lower lifts remaining open for adventuring. There was still some quality snowfall experienced in the morning followed by some rain in town and a light dusting up top. Nozawa Onsen has woken up to a layer of fog blanketing the town this morning. But don’t be fooled, up top there’s sunshine peeking through intermittent cloud coverage.
