Book Next Year Nozawa 50cm of fresh overnight for Nozawa! Has been a while since woke up to the sound of snow blowers and shovels scraping the steps. But this morning the neighbours were out in force clearing their homes after this amazing dump of half a meter of snow in Nozawa! When I went to bed the snow was just starting to kick but not a lot had accumulated. Woke up in the early hours and the road was completely white. You always know it is a big dump when the road heaters can’t keep up. The base has jumped to 130cm up top. Still no word on more runs opening but hope there will be a top to […]

The Snow Gods have been kind for the start of the New Year, with 30cm or the “Magic Foot” of fresh snow up top. We got hit with rain down low last night but it was snowing the whole time up the top and has seen the Base jump to 90cm this morning. More Lifts Open Nozawa
More Lifts Open Nozawa Getting connected in Nozawa Cloudy start to the day here but some good news. The resort is opening some of the bottom lifts to help with the increasing number of guests. The Nagasaka Connector from Karasawa and the Nagasaka and Hikage triples will all open this morning and the cat tracks that join them. Will just make it easier for people to move between the 3 bases and access accommodation and car parks without needing the bus. Will also mean beginners have a few more options. There is a rumour the Beginner Forest trail will open over New Years so that guests can ski top to bottom too. Fingers crossed as would be a game changer […]

Christmas Eve Nozawa Onsen
Christmas Eve Nozawa Onsen Christmas Eve in Nozawa Onsen You should have been here yesterday. Santa arrived early and with him almost a meter of fresh powder snow. Just what the doctor ordered. The snow storm transformed the landscape into a winter wonderland with the brush of a Christmas wand. Many guests arriving were over the moon to arrive on the best day of the season so far. The snow was fresh and it remained cold up top all day so conditions under foot were sublime. The sun even came out and graced us with a beautiful bluebird day. Today is looking pretty similar with the sun just starting to peak out over the top of Mount Kenashi now. […]
One Meter Snow Nozawa
One Meter Snow Nozawa Oh what a night in Nozawa! Forget about the “Magic Foot” how about the “Magic Meter!” 90cm of fresh snow overnight for Nozawa and still snowing! Two feet are better than one but Three feet are amazing! We were excited to see a Magic Foot of fresh snow yesterday morning and today we are waking up to Three feet or 90cm of fresh snow! It snowed most the day yesterday but just intensified once the sun went down. It was one of those crazy Siberian storms when the sky was just full of flakes and it felt like would never stop. I have been here for more than 30 winters now and it still amazes […]

December Snow Update Nozawa

We didn’t get as much snow as hoped for especially in lower parts of Nozawa but enough up at the top to get back on track! The snow should keep on building up throughout the day and hopefully in the near future we can expect more slopes to re-open with big snow dumps expected from Thursday afternoon. For today it is just Yamabiko D course an intermediate run and for beginners can do a bit of walking on the slope next to the gondola to get your feet and maybe venture up on Yamabiko 4 lift. […]
