The snow storm transformed the landscape into a winter wonderland with the brush of a Christmas wand. Many guests arriving were over the moon to arrive on the best day of the season so far. One Meter Snow Nozawa Oh what a night in Nozawa! Forget about the “Magic Foot” how about the “Magic Meter!” 90cm of fresh snow overnight for Nozawa and still snowing! Cozy Corners of Nozawa Onsen Fresh snow from the top down to the village, partly sunny beautiful day ahead With 10cm of fresh snowfall from yesterday and during the night the village has morphed into winter this morning. Same lifts operating as yesterday and Yamabiko D course up and running. More fresh snow expected from Thursday afternoon all the way until Saturday morning! December Snow Update Nozawa Back in business on a Monday morning The gondola is now up and running after a few days on hold. We didn’t get as much snow as hoped for especially in lower parts of Nozawa but enough up at the top to get back on track! The snow should keep on building up throughout the day and hopefully in the near future we can expect more slopes to re-open with big snow dumps expected from Thursday afternoon. First Week Season Nozawa What a first week of the season in Nozawa Today marks a week of the resort opening here in Nozawa and it has been a doozy. The snow up top has been terrific especially for this early season. We have had multiple days with 10-20cm top ups of fresh snow and some beautiful bluebird days. Yesterday was no exception with 15cm of fresh on the deck in the morning and clear blue skies. Still very few people about to share it with too. Skiing Nozawa Japan December 20cm of Fresh snow for Nozawa Yesterday the Nozawa Onsen Ski Resort was reporting a beautiful 20cm of fresh snow falling across Yamabiko at the top of the resort. Checking the web cams this morning and it is nice and white all the way down to Paradise slope. https://nozawa-onsen.com/nozawa-webcams/ We even saw our first snow of the winter in the village yesterday afternoon. First Snowfall Season 2023 First snow of the season for the main Island Honshu A number of mountain huts across the Japanese alps that we were just taking about hiking yesterday have reported their first snowfalls for the season! Kita Hotaka Hut sitting at above 3000 meters got a lovely 15cm of fresh snow while at Tateyama up at Murodo at 2450 meters high received a dusting too.
