Earthquake Nozawa Onsen Japan Sunny second day of the year in Nozawa Shaken but not stirred here in Nozawa Onsen after yesterday’s Earthquake. Thank you everyone for your concern. Lifts are open and the Gondola is running dropping people into a beautiful day up at Yamabiko. Unfortunately Nodo peninsula in Ishikawa prefecture got hit pretty hard and they have some major damage so our thoughts with everyone in the affected regions. Happy New Years from Nozawa Onsen
Happy New Years from Nozawa Onsen Happy New Years and 明けましておめでとうございます from Nozawa Onsen A New Year and New Adventures awaits and we wish you all the best for 2024. The Snow Gods have been kind for the start of the New Year, with 30cm or the “Magic Foot” of fresh snow up top. We got hit with rain down low last night but it was snowing the whole time up the top and has seen the Base jump to 90cm this morning. It eventually turned to snow down here in the Village too and is snowing lightly as we type. It was fairly mellow New years in town last night, the bars were jumping and people were […]
More Lifts Open Nozawa
More Lifts Open Nozawa Getting connected in Nozawa Cloudy start to the day here but some good news. The resort is opening some of the bottom lifts to help with the increasing number of guests. The Nagasaka Connector from Karasawa and the Nagasaka and Hikage triples will all open this morning and the cat tracks that join them. Will just make it easier for people to move between the 3 bases and access accommodation and car parks without needing the bus. Will also mean beginners have a few more options. There is a rumour the Beginner Forest trail will open over New Years so that guests can ski top to bottom too. Fingers crossed as would be a game changer […]
New Year Ski Japan
New Year Ski Japan Blue skies and views for miles in Nozawa – Roof top report from Nozawa Central Magic start to the day here with clear blue skies and crystal trees lining the vista. Be sure to take the sunscreen and your camera as reckon this will be one of those days you can see all the way across to the Sea of Japan. Yesterday was cloudy and combined with the light snow kept the pistes nice and fresh and the base in tact. New Year Ski Japan ⛅️TODAY: Temperature at the top: -3 degrees New snow since […]
Christmas Eve Nozawa Onsen
Christmas Eve Nozawa Onsen Christmas Eve in Nozawa Onsen You should have been here yesterday. Santa arrived early and with him almost a meter of fresh powder snow. Just what the doctor ordered. The snow storm transformed the landscape into a winter wonderland with the brush of a Christmas wand. Many guests arriving were over the moon to arrive on the best day of the season so far. The snow was fresh and it remained cold up top all day so conditions under foot were sublime. The sun even came out and graced us with a beautiful bluebird day. Today is looking pretty similar with the sun just starting to peak out over the top of Mount Kenashi now. […]
December Snow Update Nozawa
December Snow Update Nozawa Back in business on a Monday morning The gondola is now up and running after a few days on hold. We didn’t get as much snow as hoped for especially in lower parts of Nozawa but enough up at the top to get back on track! The snow should keep on building up throughout the day and hopefully in the near future we can expect more slopes to re-open with big snow dumps expected from Thursday afternoon. For today it is just Yamabiko D course an intermediate run and for beginners can do a bit of walking on the slope next to the gondola to get your feet and maybe venture up on Yamabiko 4 lift. […]

New Restaurant Nozawa Onsen
New Restaurant Nozawa Onsen Fun in the sun for the Weekend in Nozawa Yesterday on the slopes was surprisingly good. We had a little top up of snow the night before and combined with what was blown from the machines gave good coverage on the upper slopes at Yamabiko. Enhanced with beautiful sunny conditions and very few people around made for an awesome Friday. This morning on the cams looks like a bit of a carbon copy. Temperatures seem to be the warmest of the week today, with light winds, so you can probably leave the extra winter layers at home. Ideal for everyone who wants to be outside to get some vitamin D and soak in some rays. Enjoy […]
Sun Snow Nozawa Onsen
Sun Snow Nozawa Onsen Sun shining but Gondola on wind hold It doesn’t happen very often in the season but today looks like the wind is strong and unfortunately blowing straight up the mountain and affecting the safety of the Gondola operation so there wont be any skiing today. We may get some snow later though. Tomorrow looks like the winds will ease and the sun will be back. So a good day to check out the Snow Monkeys or take a stroll around town today.
