Very cold temperatures across the resort, -10C at the top, means the powder will be in excellent condition. Light snow is still falling and expected to continue on and off today. Yesterday was outstanding with deep but not bottomless powder. This meant that many of the slighter gradients were skiable without getting stuck, great for those just starting out in the powder. Base up top: 250 cm Temp Top; -10 Degrees Base at bottom; 140 cm New Snow since close: 20-30 cm Weather; Snow As expected it has dumped overnight in Nozawa Onsen, and dumped hard. 30cm of fresh powder has been recorded up near the summit of Mt Kenashi and 20cm down in the village. At the moment snow is still falling at moderate levels and the upper mountain is soaked in fog. We have some light cumulus clouds hovering around delivering the occasional snow shower. Since the close of lifts 5cm of fresh has fallen on the upper slopes and a dusting recorded down lower. Visibility is very good across all elevations. Best riding today will be had all over the mountain from a snow quality standpoint. Base up top: 250 cm Temp Top; -9 Degrees Base at bottom; 130 cm New Snow since close: 5 cm Weather; Snow showers After an insane day yesterday the snowfalls have abated and at the moment we have some interesting oceanic weather conditions. Highly isolated light snow showers mixed with clouds and sunny breaks. The temperatures are pretty cold, especially up top where -9C is the current reading. The fresh powder is deep and plentiful across all areas of the resort. Its hard to go wrong anywhere really. Groomers are fast and soft, trees and off piste has vast tracts of deep powder. The good news is that high clouds are racing across the skies indicating an approaching cold front expected tonight. Look west for views of the Sea of Japan and Sado island offshore. Today all piste courses will be excellent; fast and smooth and will remain that way well into the afternoon with the light crowds. At the moment we have quite cold temperatures and continued flurries which have lasted the night. Since close of lifts 5cm has been added up top, 8cm mid mountain indication windblown conditions. Conditions will be excellent across the whole mountain. Groomers will be fast and smooth. The trees and off piste will have superb moderately deep powder stashes. Nice! At the moment conditions are overcast with occasional flurries and cold temperatures across the mountain. We expect visibility to improve later in the day with a partly cloudy afternoon on the cards.
