The gondola shot is from back in 2011 and the ski patrol shot from 1992. Snowiest Time Year Nozawa Flashback Friday from Nozawa Onsen New Years day the 1st of January 2022 at the Shinden Onsen. On this day the Japanese Weather bureau reported Nozawa as the snowiest place in the whole of Japan! We received almost 2 meters of snow in just 2 days, not a bad way to start the New Year. Compare to the second shot of how the Onsen usually looks without any snow on it! Doesn’t look real. Can live comfortably in town without shovelling tonnes of snow, ride your bike, hang your clothes outside to dry and still have some fun on the slopes. The last two days have been really enjoyable spring skiing. The colder temps overnight have kept the slush fast and easy to turn in. Mid April Ski Japan Spring is not just about the skiing in Nozawa Fairly quiet weekend around the village but a few people up on the slopes today. Still skiing down to Paradise just, and enjoying an uncrowded lunch at Buna. Up top the snow was fun spring slush but visibility was pretty low, it got better down at Paradise and the groomers have done a good job of keeping that run alive. Mid April Ski Japan Skiing at this time of year is sometimes a bit of a bonus. April Snowfall in Nozawa Good morning Nozawa Onsen. On Saturday night we had some spring snowfall! Nozawa village was covered in a dusting of fresh snow early Sunday morning. Many locals and holiday goers grabbed their skis and snowboards and headed up the mountain yesterday to enjoy the fresh snow. It was also the last day of Nozawa’s annual Demo Days event. It was another successful year of the three-day event, where everyone could head up the mountain to test ride all of the latest models for free. After some strong winds and showers over the weekend, it is a sunny and clear day today. Winds have calmed since yesterday and are expected to average from 5-15km/hr throughout the day. […]
