The resort has one of the best verticals in Japan with 1085m difference between the top and bottom. It faces directly to the Sea of Japan so picks up a lot of snow form the amazing Lake effect that drives that cold deep Siberian powder across our slopes. Winds and snowfall are expected to pick up from midday, but hold tight—skies will clear later, setting us up for a stunning bluebird day to kick off your Monday morning. Calm after the storm in Nozawa Calm after the storm in Nozawa A calm morning greets us after an eventful night in Nozawa! 🌤️ The clouds are giving way to the sun, which promises to shine brightly by midday—perfect for a lunch with a view at Paradise Slope! Yesterday’s strong winds worked in our favor, blowing snow around and helping everyone keep the snow height in the village under control. An amazing half meter of fresh snow overnight! Nagasaka Gondola is currently on hold due to strong winds that sweep through across the mountain. More mountain opening today! More mountain opening today! Good morning from sunny Nozawa Onsen! 🌞 The mountain offers incredible visibility and breathtaking views again today. Winds are strong up top, so the Nagasaka Gondola may slow or pause—hopefully, they ease soon. Slopes are freshly groomed and in pristine condition, with negative temps keeping the snow perfect. The mountain is open top-to-bottom, except Skyline, where groomers are hard at work. Hikage Kids Park opens today!
