The little laneway beside the Chemist below Kaze no Ko Italian and opposite Oyu Onsen literally comes to life. Best Ski Resort Japan Base is hanging in there in Nozawa Another perfect spring day here in Nozawa with not a breathe of wind and lots of sunshine. Temps a nice warm 8 degrees up top, a bit of a jump from the past few days which have been cool. Anyway if you love your spring skiing you will be in your element today and practically have the slopes to yourself. Ramen Noodles Nozawa Onsen Who loves a good Ramen? The sun is out today in Nozawa and still nice and cold so should be a great quiet day on the slopes. Temps are -2 degrees up top and base is 340cm, hard to believe it is nearing the end of March. Yesterday was a beauty too with some fresh snow to be enjoyed early on from the day before and lots of sunshine. Today started foggy up top but clearing now. Spring Ski Specials Japan Magical Feet a bit of treat in March We got not one but two feet of fresh snow over the last 24 Hours in Nozawa. 30cm yesterday and it just kept coming with another 35cm overnight. Base has jumped back up to 440cm and the temps are nice and cold this morning at -6 degrees. Over the years the first few weeks of March have generally delivered some good snowfalls and always nice to see. Especially as last season we didn’t get it. Snow Dance Nozawa Onsen Someone has been doing their Snow Dance in Nozawa Waking up to another “Magic Foot” overnight in Nozawa and the tap is still fully turned on. Currently snowing nicely in town as people make their way up to the lifts and a morning coffee. Drop into see Sumika san at Gondola Cafe in Wabi Sabi if heading up. It is going to be an epic day on the hill with 26cm reported overnight and the Base jumping to 370cm, the peak so far this season, with more to come. Snowing up top however the visibility is pretty poor. Resort reporting just 6cm of fresh so far. Bars Opening Nozawa Onsen Trees that please in Nozawa This shot from yesterday when the trees up top at Yamabiko were laden heavy with frozen branches. Even after seeing these for many years always find Mother Nature amazing. Who else loves the frozen trees? Bit of a mixed bag today with cloud and sunshine. Pretty sunset right now for the last run down of the day. We had a bit of fresh snow on the ground yesterday which has kept the base hovering at 40cm up top.
