Still Snow April Japan Still Snow April Japan 5cm of fresh snow overnight for Nozawa It’s April and we are still seeing dustings of snow across the top of the resort. Crazy stuff when the Cherry blossoms are in full bloom in Tokyo. Mind you it is still pretty chilly there too. Looking at the web cams and the trees up top are doing the frosty frozen broccoli thing. https://nozawa-onsen.com/nozawa-webcams/ This little top up and the sub zero temps should make for some good skiing across the top of the mountain. The resort is only open down to Paradise anyway so you need to download on the Gondola. Guessing the resort is saving things for the weekend when there […]

Spring Lifts Open Japan
Spring Lifts Open Japan Spring Lifts Open Japan Spring where art thou? Pulled back the curtains yesterday morning and was almost disappointed to see light snow falling on my door step 🙂 Felt Mother Nature was playing an April Fool trick on me. Really wanting to feel some of the suns warmth on my face this time of year. Went skiing on the last day of March and it was like a winters day up there. Fresh snow and cold temps making for some great skiing conditions. All these photos from Monday but where is the spring slush? The season that keeps on giving continues to give. The forecast is for more light snow up top today and tomorrow then […]

Base back at 400cm!
Base back at 400cm! Base back at 400cm! Yesterday the snow just kept coming and big flakes too. I missed the update on what we got on top of Thursday nights 30cm but would have been a bit. Together with the 12cm that fell since the lifts closed yesterday and we have a huge 4 meter base with a nice layer of powder sitting waiting for the lucky ones today on the mountain. The sun was peaking out early and it is looking like a reasonably clear day ahead. There will be scattered clouds and a chance of some more light snow tonight. TODAY: 🌡️ Temperature at Nagasaka top: -9 Degrees ❄️ New snow since yesterday: […]
Are we done with shovelling?
Are we done with shovelling? Are we done with shovelling? This morning in Nozawa Onsen, we’re waking up to overcast skies with occasional clearings, setting the stage for a mostly cloudy day with light snowfall expected throughout. With midweek in full swing, the slopes are noticeably quieter than the weekend rush—offering more space and freedom for those carving their way down the mountain. Yesterday brought mostly cloudy skies, but fresh snowfall in the afternoon and evening gave the resort a refresh. A 15cm of fresh overnight has topped up the base, and with more snow on the way in the coming days, we’re left wondering—could this be our last big dump of the season? Stay tuned and make the […]
Snow and blue skies on the way!
Snow and blue skies on the way! Snow and blue skies on the way! Looking out the window this morning, it’s a much clearer view compared to yesterday! Yesterday’s early afternoon winds have settled, and after a day of heavy to moderate snowfall, the mountain is looking beautifully refreshed. Expect a pleasant day up top with -2°C, slow southern winds, and a chance of clearing skies around midday—perfect conditions for carving up those slopes! But hold onto your beanies because a big dump is incoming from tomorrow night! NW winds are approaching, bringing another round of deep snow to keep the season going strong. Looking ahead, the long-term forecast is calling for sunnier and slightly warmer days, […]
Spring Tease to Snowy Dreams
Spring Tease to Snowy Dreams Spring Tease to Snowy Dreams Yesterday brought us a taste of spring on the slopes, with a mild 2°C at the top and stunning bluebird skies—our warmest day of the season so far! Some were even spotted enjoying the sunshine in T-shirts. The perfect weather set the stage for a magical Lantern Festival, ending with a breathtaking fireworks display over Nagasaka slope. But winter isn’t done with us yet! A bit of rain is expected today in both the village and on the mountain, but by Monday morning, we’ll be waking up to a fresh layer of snow blanketing the resort once again. Looking ahead, the long-term forecast is teasing us with some […]

Yesterday, we wrapped up February with fantastic conditions up top, and today is just as ideal for exploring the mountain and soaking up the sunshine. 🌞 For the best midday break, Hikage Station is a great spot to grab lunch and relax in the sun. Or, if you’re up for even better views, take a ride up to Buna on Paradise Slope and treat yourself to a soft ice cream while overlooking the mountains! 🍦🏔️ Enjoy the bluebird skies while they last because winter isn’t […]
Last Day of Winter
Last Day of Winter Last Day of Winter Still waking up to -4 degrees and a massive 400cm base of snow up at Yamabiko. It has been a big winter and personally really looking forward to Spring and some magnificent Spring skiing. With all that base it is going to be a long season with still 2 months of skiing to go! Yesterday was a magnificent day up on the slopes. Early cloud cover kept the snow firm and then eventually gave way to sunshine and a beautiful sunset. This morning is sunny from the get go. There may be some scattered cloud but will be another awesome day on the slopes so get up there and […]
Even snowing on the sunny days
Even snowing on the sunny days Even snowing on the sunny days Got a bit of a nice surprise this morning when opened my window to see some decent size flakes lofting from the sky. The weatherman had promised me sunshine. Dont think the snow will last or make much of a difference but pretty to see all the same. Another magic day on the slopes yesterday with a mix of cloud and sunshine. Can feel things starting to get a bit quieter around town too and with March just 2 days away and the start of spring really looking forward to the transition. If still keen to come up and take advantage of this 4 meter […]
