Madarao Ski Resort Nozawa Madarao Marches out for 2020 Nearby Madarao Ski Resort lifts stopped running just a week ago, we took the short drive over to check it out on the last day the 31st of March 2020. As can see from the photo there was still some good coverage up there and it was a nice day in the sun. Madarao is just over 30 minutes drive from here and we stare across the Valley at it daily from Nozawa. It makes for a great day trip from Nozawa and the resort has been actively working on their off piste runs over the past few years. Easter Ski Holiday Japan
Easter Ski Holiday Japan Late Season Delivers in Nozawa Early April has proven yet again to be pretty impressive. Just little top ups but the temps have stayed cold up high and the last few days have been beautiful. Last April we got an amazing 1 meter of snow in the first 3 days of the month. We could have used these conditions in December. 🙂 Anyway please enjoy a few shots of the last couple of days in Nozawa. Hope it gives you some inspiration for adventures on the other side. Stay safe Here is an idea of a package for 2 Adults and 2 Children from March 15th until the end of the season on May 6th Spring […]
Spring Snow Nozawa Japan
Spring Snow Nozawa Japan Another April Surprise in Nozawa Big flakes lofting from the sky this morning in Nozawa Onsen. Mother Nature appears to be a little confused at the moment. Farmers are trying to prepare the fields down low and winter is hanging on. It was a magnificent day on the slopes yesterday with the snow we received the night before and today should be a carbon copy with sunshine expected later. Currently a very wintery -5 degrees up top and another 5cm of fresh on the slopes, should be more if this keeps going. This video from up at the Olympic Cross Country park earlier today. Probably not going to make it this season but please consider Nozawa […]
Ski Trip at Home
This is very clever and you can try it at home… Feeling a little cooped up and keen to hit the mountains then this may well be your little escape. See if you can make something similar with your new found spare time. Good training for next season in Nozawa
Snow in April Japan
Bluebird April morning for Nozawa The sun is beaming early this morning and looking like a great day to get a bit of Vitamin D in Nozawa. We ended up getting 5 cm of fresh snow yesterday so a nice little top up for the upper slopes. Base currently at 180cm and temp up top -4 degrees. Wind is pretty much non existent so for anyone about should make for a beautiful day. Temps expected to drop tomorrow night and about 10cm of fresh snow expected. Funnily enough the forecast offering few little top ups of snow over the coming week or so at this stage and temps remaining fairly stable. Check out the web cams for a little bit […]
Cheap April Ski Japan
Dusting for the top in Nozawa Waking up to a fresh morning here in Nozawa and the thermometer at my front door is reading -1 degree. Looking up to the mountains and a nice dusting of snow is blanketing the upper slopes just above the village. We got hit with rain in town but the freezing level was only a bit higher so the top slopes would have received a top up of fresh snow. It is mainly a top mountain game now anyway and can no longer ski top to bottom. Still 175cm base up top and a chance for more snow on Saturday night with 15cm forecast. Will be nice up top and can ski all the way […]
Tokyo Snow Cherry Blossoms
Tokyo Snow Cherry Blossoms Snokyo, while we were busy enjoying the fresh snow in the mountains of Nagano the capital Tokyo got a dusting of its own. Just a few centimetres but for Tokyo and at this time of year it is kind of a big deal as does not happen very often. 📷 @acchi_kocchi arigatou While Tokyo got a rare arctic blast it was also in the middle of its Sakura or Cherry Blossom Season. Seems Mother Nature is grappling with making the switch from Winter to Spring. The combination of snow flakes and sakura petals makes for some beautiful scenery, this shot from Yamanashi just next door to Tokyo prefecture. 📷 @sshimpei arigatou

Bluebird Day March Nozawa
Bluebird Day March Nozawa Bluebird happiness Marches into Nozawa Wow what a day on the mountain yesterday, all that fresh snow and then the sunshine made for a perfect blue bird day in Nozawa. Temps remained cold up top most of the day and the snow quality was terrific. The powder was amazing all morning before getting a bit of that Spring funk later and the few people about made the most of it. The slopes were good all day and the views were breathe taking with super clear blue skies and thin clouds revealing the peaks. Much warmer start this morning with the mercury at 7 degrees already so will definitely be more spring like today. We still skied […]
