Tips Restaurants Nozawa Onsen Sun before the snow for Nozawa?   Gorgeous sunny day on the slopes in Nozawa yesterday. You could be forgiven for thinking it was spring down the bottom of the mountain as things warmed up yesterday but up the top was still nice and cold and kept the snow in good condition. Australia Day Nozawa Onsen Happy sunny Australia Day from Nozawa Onsen Bit of a festive weekend with the Chinese New Year and Australia Day falling on the same weekend this year. Chinese New Year is normally a bit later in February but this year it is all in January. Which could mean we are in for a quieter February than normal. Chinese New Year Nozawa Happy Chinese New Year from Nozawa Onsen Today is the Chinese New Year and we look forward to celebrating the Lunar New year.  The year of the Rat is hopefully a good one for everyone ahead.   Best Week Nozawa Onsen Has been a good week in  Nozawa  What a day yesterday on the slopes. Anyone that was here the last two days is looking pretty happy about now, as said some prefer the storm some the sun and we had both. Yesterday was pretty special though and is always hard to beat a bluebird day. With the fresh snow, sunshine, no winds and not too many people about it was one of those days. Snow Forecast Nozawa Onsen Monday could be a good start to the week in Nozawa   Terrific day on the slopes yesterday especially up top. The snow was great quality, with the dusting we received overnight and nice cold temperatures.  The views were also spectacular with high cloud base you could see clearly to Mt Myoko and Mt Hiuchi across the valley. Kids Ski Free Nozawa Breathe in the fresh mountain air it’s Sunday  Just a dusting overnight for Nozawa and still snowing lightly now with nice cold temps and light winds again.  Fairly clear down low but looks like cloud covering the top of the mountain. Cold temps and cloud with the chance of light snow should keep the pistes fairly nice all day.  Being a Sunday the Tokyo crowd should all head off at around lunch time and leave some pretty empty slopes for the afternoon.  It is also Kids ski free day today which is great for all the kids staying at the moment aged 6 -15 Years old  Please tell kids to leave their regular ski passes at […]

Beautiful January Days Nozawa It is pretty obvious that this is not our best season for snow fall in not only Nozawa but the whole of Japan this year. However the last few days have been spectacular on the mountain particularly up top. If you are a hungry powder hound and looking for deep off piste skiing you won’t find that deep powder we normally get at this time of year. But talking with some families yesterday they said they probably prefer the current conditions as there are no winds, temps are not freezing, they are getting a good dose of sunshine and the snow on the piste especially up top is fantastic.
