Big Dump Overnight Nozawa We got even more snow than expected overnight in Nozawa Onsen.  The official report is for 35cm of fresh up top but looking out the window it feels like we got almost that in the village.  Has been a while since I have been woken by the roar of the snow blowers but it was a welcome alarm this morning! Magic Foot Nozawa Onsen More than the “Magic Foot” overnight for Nozawa  It started snowing yesterday evening and kept going all night giving us a beautiful 35cm of fresh snow up top today.  Temp at the top;-6 degrees New snow since close; 35cm Base at the top; 105 cm Snow conditions; Fresh powder Weather; Cloudy with light snow Was a bit warm early down low so a lot less recoded here but nice and cold now and still snowing. Should continue through the day getting lighter before another good dump tonight. Lots of people around to enjoy the great conditions for the weekend but should start to empty out from tomorrow afternoon.  Stay safe and have a great day.

Happy New Year from Nozawa Onsen Was a magical night around the village yesterday to bring in the new year and a new decade! Lots of people lining the streets and making their way to the temple or the fireworks. Was almost majestic as the villagers rang the bell 108 times and the snow lofted silently in the background. Sunny Sunday in Nozawa! Dumping Nozawa Onsen What a difference a day makes in Nozawa! Yesterday we were still amongst the rice paddies today we are in the Snow Ball. A massive 50cm plus of fresh has fallen since this time yesterday up top and the base has jumped from 40cm to 90cm in 24 Hours.  Still going strong now, it feels like the Winter Switch has definitely been flicked.  Yesterday the snow had started to accumulate up top by after lunch and there was some layers of powder to enjoy.  Today should be up another level with all the snow we got up top overnight.  Temp at the top;  -8 degrees New snow since close; 35 cm ( 20cm before that) Base at […]

White Christmas Nozawa Onsen Japan Not a bad way to spend Christmas on the slopes yesterday with fresh snow and glorious sunshine. For sure we could use some more snow still but with nice cold temps up top the snow underfoot was terrific. A few people around as was only Yamabiko and down to mid station but something for everyone and spectacular views across the valley. A Very Merry Christmas from Nozawa Onsen  Waking up to a beautiful Sunny day and surrounded by lots of white Christmas Trees on the mountain.  Yesterday the first day of the season was a magic day on the slopes at Yamabiko for all those that had been waiting.  We ended up with 20cm of fresh snow and with the cold temps conditions on piste were superb.  More runs opening today including some beginner runs with Number 15 the 2500 m Bunabayashi run ready to slide.  This runs all the way from the Nagasaka Gondola top station down to the mid station and is sure to be gorgeous for your Christmas Day slide.  Check out the Web Cams it looks fantastic […]
