As the day dawns we’ve got some sensational conditions down here in Nozawa Onsen village. The sky is clear and cold, off in the distance Myoko is rising out of some meandering valley fog and while it didn’t snow much last night, it did snow quite a lot since last lifts yesterday. Week Day Skiing Nozawa Waiting for Big Wednesday in Nozawa  Was thinking we may wake up to heavy snow fall this morning but at this stage there is just scattered cloud above and even patches of blue skies. It was a crystal clear sky when went to bed last night and the stars were shining. With no cloud cover last night it is nice and cold this morning in town, the mercury on my doorstep showing -5 degrees. Big dump expected Nozawa Prelude to the Kiss in Nozawa  Waking up to snow in the village this morning, just light but a nice kind of unexpected top up. Everyone had their eyes on the prize of this “Siberian Dream” that is set to engulf us in a snow globe from tomorrow so didn’t really see this little fall coming. Set to snow the rest of this morning and we should end up with about 10cm on the piste which will make for a great day. Book Holiday Nozawa Onsen Fairytale like day on the slopes of Nozawa  It doesn’t get much prettier up there than yesterday with the fresh snow from the day before nesting in the trees and bathed in glorious sunshine, it was nothing short of spectacular.  My kids were calling the trees “ Frozen Broccoli “ The snow quality was also terrific and so were the smiles. February looking Good Nozawa Sunny Sunday ahead for Nozawa  Wow still recovering from the amazing last few days in Nozawa. Yesterday played out pretty perfectly with snow falling most of the morning and with the 25cm of fresh overnight made for a pretty special day. Then the sun came out in the afternoon and blessed us all with a picture perfect afternoon. It was pretty busy up there with the weekend crowd but most will be off back to Tokyo this afternoon and with all other holidays winding up it should be a pretty quiet and snowy week ahead. February Snow Nozawa Onsen Two Magic Feet are better then One! Another 25cm of fresh snow reported overnight for Nozawa Onsen bringing the total so far of this snow storm to 60cm! Base now at the peak so far this season with 175cm up at Yamabiko this morning. Still snowing pretty heavy right now down in the village so we should see that number increase a bit throughout the day! Powder Day Nozawa Video Powder Skis Nozawa Onsen Welcome back Winter in Nozawa Onsen Waking up to a magnificent white landscape in the village this morning and nice 20cm of fresh snow being reported for the top of the mountain. Cold temps with -5 degrees on the mercury should make for an awesome powder day on the slopes. Still snowing nicely on the doorstep right now and should continue for the rest of the day and into tomorrow. Getting heavier tonight we may get up to another 30cm on top of this. Winter Coming Nozawa Onsen If you have any faith in the forecast this time tomorrow Nozawa should be a very different place. With a Northerly wind change expected this afternoon and 40km winds bringing in a serious Siberian express to our door. Has been a while since we have seen one of these systems line up and the forecast has been a bit unreliable but this close to the event we are quietly confident the Snow Gods will deliver!
