Winter Coming Nozawa Onsen If you have any faith in the forecast this time tomorrow Nozawa should be a very different place. With a Northerly wind change expected this afternoon and 40km winds bringing in a serious Siberian express to our door. Has been a while since we have seen one of these systems line up and the forecast has been a bit unreliable but this close to the event we are quietly confident the Snow Gods will deliver! Check out the numbers here We are waking up under a sea of cloud in the village this morning but the web cams are showing it is nice and sunny up top. Still pretty warm with moderate South winds but the […]

Nozawa Snow Shuttle
Nozawa Snow Shuttle Nozawa is a pretty compact little village so unlike many resorts in Japan you don’t really need to take a shuttle bus to get around. Most all of the properties that you book through Nozawa Holidays are within easy walking distance to the slopes and the town so no need to get on a bus. However if you need to there is a Free Shuttle Service that loops around the village and connects the lower part of town to the Nagasaka Gondola and back. Nozawa Snow Shuttle – Timetable There are multiple bus stops around town and as noted above they run pretty regular all day. Note they do not run at night but if need a […]
Spring Skiing Nozawa Onsen
Spring Skiing Nozawa Onsen A touch of Spring skiing in Nozawa but won’t last long. Yesterday was a beautiful day on the mountain, besides a cloudy start the skies cleared and we got bathed in some gorgeous sunshine. It was warm down in the village and with the southerly winds it felt a lot like a spring day. The snow conditions however were actually better than the day before as softened up early and were still fast and fun under foot up top. Terrific most of the way down the mountain except for the spring like slush at the bottom. Up at Yamabiko everyone was having a ball check out this video shot from the top of Mount Kenashi yesterday […]

Best Week Nozawa Onsen
Best Week Nozawa Onsen Has been a good week in Nozawa What a day yesterday on the slopes. Anyone that was here the last two days is looking pretty happy about now, as said some prefer the storm some the sun and we had both. Yesterday was pretty special though and is always hard to beat a bluebird day. With the fresh snow, sunshine, no winds and not too many people about it was one of those days. Enjoy a piece of it with this little video from the top of Karasawa slope yesterday afternoon. As many know there used to be a lift servicing this run but it was dismantled a few years back, so now the only […]
Ski Improvement Nozawa Japan
Ski Improvement Nozawa Japan Beautiful Bluebird day ahead for Nozawa Yesterday or today could be your best day of the season so far depending what you prefer. The all day dumping of fresh snow yesterday or clear skies and sunshine on the cards today. Most people I saw coming down the mountain were pretty happy with yesterdays conditions as the snow just kept falling all day. We ended up with a massive 50cm from that little Siberian storm and the base has now been pushed up over the 150cm mark. There were fresh tracks from the start yesterday on piste up at Yamabiko with the snow that had fallen since they groomed the slopes, the snow got heavier filling in […]
