White Christmas Nozawa Onsen Japan Not a bad way to spend Christmas on the slopes yesterday with fresh snow and glorious sunshine. For sure we could use some more snow still but with nice cold temps up top the snow underfoot was terrific. A few people around as was only Yamabiko and down to mid station but something for everyone and spectacular views across the valley. A Very Merry Christmas from Nozawa Onsen  Waking up to a beautiful Sunny day and surrounded by lots of white Christmas Trees on the mountain.  Yesterday the first day of the season was a magic day on the slopes at Yamabiko for all those that had been waiting.  We ended up with 20cm of fresh snow and with the cold temps conditions on piste were superb.  More runs opening today including some beginner runs with Number 15 the 2500 m Bunabayashi run ready to slide.  This runs all the way from the Nagasaka Gondola top station down to the mid station and is sure to be gorgeous for your Christmas Day slide.  Check out the Web Cams it looks fantastic […]

  Nozawa  Onsen Ski Resort Opens Today!  Great news out of Nozawa Onsen this morning. Santa has arrived early delivering snow and blessing us with enough to open the Ski Resort today. The resort will open from 11am  once the  groomers  have gone in and  done their thing.  Just up at Yamabiko at this stage with courses C and D opening up for today. More may open tomorrow and definitely Saturday with a huge snow storm expected Friday where we should see more than 50cm fall across the resort.  Lift Passes today are discounted to 2000 Yen for Adults and 1500 Yen for kids. 15cm of Fresh Snow overnight for Shiga Kogen!   Surrounded by a dreamy cloud in Nozawa this morning but we definitely got snow up top here overnight. It was raining down in the village but on the web cams can see even Hikage a little higher got a dusting. Shiga Kogen was the big winner with half a “Magic Foot” falling on most of the slopes there. This shot from Kumanoyu Ski Resort early this morning but Ichinose and the other resorts would have been blessed too. Christmas Gift Nozawa Onsen It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas. The Forecast is now finally shaping up with some good size dumps expected and cold temps. Just need those seasonal Northwest systems to kick in from Siberia and the snow to arrive. Some expected tonight and more tomorrow. Friday looking like an even bigger front. Cross your toes while you are at it but things are looking up! It has even improved since first posting this and looks like we are in for a good old fashioned Snow Down!

We are operating a Shuttle to Shiga Kogen everyday with Nozawa Holidays. Shiga Kogen is probably the best option for skiing in the area now as is the highest and best snow making facilities.
