Climb Mt Fuji or any of the other amazing peaks in Japan
Hiking Tours Nozawa Japan
Summer is definitely here in Japan and some warm days with the mercury already heading above 30 degrees Celsius. Great time to escape to the mountains and get up high to some cooler breezes. Many may know but for every 100m you go up the temp drops by on average 1 degree. So even in Nozawa it is set to hit 31 degrees in town tomorrow but up at Yamabiko it will be 21 degrees. Good news is the Nagasaka Gondola opens this Saturday too, so you don’t even need to walk to the top to cool down.
So with the elevation difference in Nozawa being just over 1000 meters and dropping 10 degrees imagine how cool it is on the top of Mt Fuji at 3776m above sea level. It has an annual average temp at the summit of -7 degrees and even now for these few months that it is open for climbing it averages 7 degrees. Fuji san is open to climbers from July to early September as these are the only times of year that snow is not really a problem.

Many Japanese hikers make the pilgrimage to the top of Japan’s highest peak and it can get busy at this time of year. Personally I prefer to tackle some of the country’s lesser known mountains and there are so many. Japan has an impressive 21 Mountains all above 3000 meters high. My goal is to climb the top 10 and have already knocked a few off. Out of interest who would be keen to climb Mt Fuji or some other peaks in Japan? Check out more here; Hikes Nozawa Japan
