Sakura Cherry Blossoms Nozawa
Sakura Fubuki – Cherry Blossoms falling like snow
Have not seen much fresh snow fall in Nozawa for a while now but lots of Cherry Blossom petals as this beautiful fleeting flower reaches its peak bloom. Looking out the window it almost looks like snow falling. No chance of that at the moment though with the mercury at the front door hitting 25 degrees yesterday. Still a fun slushy ski up on the slopes with plenty of snow but definitely poor mans powder now. Fun and still reasonably fast on the steeps at Yamabiko early but the lower flatter slopes are slow going.
A Big arigatou to all the crew that turned out on the weekend for the Mountain Clean up supported by POW. Not too much rubbish which is great to see but have a feeling there may be more under that huge base this year so thanks for anyone that picks some up as the snow melts and more importantly don’t drop it in the first place. The base has taken a bit of a hit with this warm weather but still 150cm up top today.
On the forecast rain tonight but then good weather for a while and temps dropping again for the start of Golden week and should remain cooler until the 5th so may be good timing to make the most of the last skiing for the season in Nozawa. The Green Season is knocking on the door and also a great time to explore Nozawa and surrounds.
