FESTIVALS IN NOZAWA ONSEN
Farewell Winter and Hello Spring
We are finishing the last days of February in true style with yesterday being a truly sublime day on the mountain. All the elements lined up with fresh snow, sunshine and very little wind for such an awesome day. Who was up there?
This morning still an impressive base of 300cm up top, so there is still plenty of snow to ride throughout March and April. We have had an awesome winter so far here in Nozawa and are excited about Spring skiing and the beautiful days it brings.
Today is set to be another bluebird day with light variable winds, and seeing temperatures creep into the low positives on top of the mountain. Wind chill has little effect sitting relative to the temperatures. In town temperatures are looking a bit more spring like sitting around 10 degrees, so if you’re not on the slopes, it’s the perfect weather for having a look around town.
If you’re in Nozawa Onsen over the weekend you will get to see the Lantern Festival, which we have been looking forward to all season. There will be free sake for the adults and ice cream for the kids, live music and fireworks. Make your way to the Hikage slopes on Saturday night, the event is kicking off at 19:00, for any more information on the festival head here; https://www.nozawaholidays.com/news/lantern-festival-nozawa-onsen/

Wednesday is is to be relatively similar to today with winds picking up though the night, seeing the temperature drop back down into the negatives. Thursday is showing variable winds throughout the day blowing from the NW brining in that cold front with light snow showers and colder temps. Could see up to 20cm grace the slopes.
