Fire and Snow Nozawa Onsen
Fire and snow Nozawa Onsen
After an amazing day of fresh snow on the mountain yesterday the skies cleared and set the scene for a magical night for the annual spring Lantern Festival. Temps were cold but the fire twirlers, flare run and Fire works finale kept spirits high. Fire has long been part of the culture in Nozawa with the famous Fire Festival and last night did not disappoint. Did we mention what an awesome day it was on the slopes with over 20cm of fresh snow. This morning is starting as a beautiful sunny day but hang on to your Beanie as snow is expected to fall again tonight and we should see another 20cm into tomorrow morning. It was busier than I thought yesterday, guess lots saw the fresh snow and came on up but many off the Tokyo crew should head home after lunch today leaving us with a quiet week ahead.

❄️ SNOW FORECAST:
More snow is what the weatherman is telling me. Tonight should be solid then continual little top ups of snow all week followed by another 30cm plus dump next Friday night. We won’t see a lot of the sun for a while except maybe a brief appearance on Tuesday morning. Temperatures are remaining cold too well in the minus region all the way until next Sunday. Stronger winds tomorrow otherwise they stay light for what should be an awesome week ahead. Plenty of rooms in town coming up as things begin to quieten down. The beautiful Nozawa Springs Lodge after a busy season is pretty empty from today on so grab some friends or family come on up and enjoy what is shaping up as a great March for Nozawa.
