Ski Camp Nozawa Japan
Rippa of a day in Nozawa
Rippa is actually a Japanese word and means much the same as does in English – awesome. Yesterday was certainly all that and more. It started with lofting fat snow flakes in the morning. Then the sun came out at about 11am and conditions were amazing. Not so many people about either now School Holidays and Chinese New Year are finished.
Today is looking like another beautiful day with the pink sunrise raising its head above the surrounding peaks. Last night was super clear could see lots of stars and a bright moon. It was cold, my ears were stinging walking back from the Onsen. This morning my thermometer is saying -8 degrees but will warm up quickly under the sunshine.
🌄TODAY:
Temperature at the top; – 5 degrees on Yamabiko.
New snow since yesterday; 0cm have not seen that number for a while 🙂
Base at the top; 260cm
Snow conditions; Still powder around from yesterday and great on piste
Weather; Sunny start to the day but hold on as another 30cm plus of snow on the radar tonight
🚡LIFTS IN OPERATION:
All lifts bar Karasawa Double are open.
🌄RUNS OPEN: All except Kandahar and Grand Prix. Half Pipe also open.
FORECAST;
Temps set to plummet tonight with a northerly change rocking our way and lots of Snow from tonight into tomorrow. Many locals on the roofs clearing decks in preparation for the next dump.
