Gondola Open Summer Nozawa
How did you like the new Gondola?
This was the 3rd season of operation of the new Nagasaka Gondola but the first that overseas guests got to ride in it. For all those that did what did you think?
Talking to guests this season some of the highlights were;
- Much quicker ride to the top in half the time of the old one, just 8 minutes. Barely time to deice and refit the kids.
- Better landing spot being that little bit higher so can slide down to Yamabiko lifts with ease instead of walking up
- Bigger windows with amazing views on the new flight path
- Comfy seats for 10 people to ride in style
- Easier access to the base station with elevator and new shiny shops and cafe
- Not stopping at the mid station made the ride a lot quicker but we also lost some opportunities. Miss sneaking runs from there and makes it a little harder to ski the middle runs of Yunomine but if an advanced skier can still ski down Ushikubi to the bottom or beginners can exit via the cat track to Paradise but it is very flat. There is talk of building a new lift from near the old mid station to Paradise slope in the future. So stay tuned
Did anyone see the old Gondola carriages in town the were turned into a Cafe? They were pretty cool swipe for photo.
The Gondola opens again in 1 month time for the Green Season on the 1st of July until the 29th of October. With the bigger cabin you can roll your Mountain Bike on with ease and fly down the purpose built Mountain Bike Trails then ride the Gondola back up. Much like you would do skiing. A day pass is 5000 Yen for Adults and 3000 Yen for kids with your Bike. Or grab a season pass for 45,000 Yen for Adults and 27,000 Yen for kids.
