April Nozawa Onsen Days
We’re expecting weather here in Nozawa Onsen and it’s certainly been cold. So does that mean good things or is that a little too optimistic?

New snow since close: 1 cm
The blue skies are out early today and since yesterday evening, the temperature seems to have lifted. It was very cold yesterday afternoon and feeling quite wintery. With those conditions looking set to fluctuate over the next week or so, there’s at least a chance we’ll see a little bit of fresh stuff here or there. The forecast shows a bit of rain later on today and overnight, but with temperatures like yesterday, you never know.
Today is the second of three demo days up on the mountain. At the top of the Nagasaka Gondola skiiers and boarders can try out next year’s skis and snowboards across many brands. The even better news is that it’s free and all you need is your ID. So if you’re in town and will be on the mountain, make sure you check it out.
Further on from today, there are very light snow showers forecast for tomorrow night, followed by sunshine and blue skies on Monday. It remains a mixed bag from there for the rest of the coming week. So let’s hope we get some snow!
Even further down the track again, as the changing seasons dictate, Green Season will be upon us. It’s a great time to be in Nozawa even without snow. Long before we all came to the area for skiing, Japanese people had been visiting this traditional farming village for the onsen. These days, as well as the many shrines and temples to see, there’s a myriad of outdoor pursuits. And let’s not forget the yoga retreat starting in August!
