Australia Day Nozawa Onsen
Happy sunny Australia Day from Nozawa Onsen
Bit of a festive weekend with the Chinese New Year and Australia Day falling on the same weekend this year. Chinese New Year is normally a bit later in February but this year it is all in January. Which could mean we are in for a quieter February than normal. Anyway the weather has turned it on for today with beautiful clear skies and crisp cool temps early which will keep it pretty hard pack up top but will soften up under this glorious sunshine soon.

Australia Day Nozawa Onsen
Yesterday was a great day on the mountain especially up high with the little top up, the snow was nice under foot and great weather in the morning getting cloudy later. A few of the local Tokyo crowd about this weekend but most should head home in a few hours for work tomorrow so will be reasonably quiet again for the rest of the week. The forecast going forward is shifting around a lot, more so this year than most as these Southerly derived lows battle our usual Northern exposure. The snow numbers are jumping up and down but still look promising for the top not so much for down low.
To all our friends from Australia wishing you a very Happy Australian day, regardless of what is happening on the weather front here we hope you will get the much needed rain down there soon. Australians have been coming to Nozawa for almost 15 years now and we are very grateful to you all for coming back year after year to visit Nozawa and for your ongoing support and love for our little village. Have a great day. Arigatou Gozaimashita
