Back into winter Nozawa
Our favourite days are back… The ones right after a storm, where the clouds open up and the sun shines down and we find ourselves viewing a delicious snow paradise of fresh powder.
Yesterday was an epic day out exploring in our “mountain office.”
And the best thing is, there are more of these days to come! Next week’s forecast is holding strong for some huge snow dumps so let’s get out there today and do some snow dances!
TODAY:
Temperature at the top; -4 degrees
New snow since yesterday; 0 cm
Base at the top; 150cm
Snow conditions; The groomers were out last night and it’s going to be a great day to go carving.
Weather; Sunny today with scattered light snow showers.
LIFTS IN OPERATION: All lifts apart from the Karasawa Double and Challenge Double are open.
RUNS OPEN: All runs bar Yunomine A, Kurokura, Grandprix, Challenge 39. Wall, Mukobayashi and Hachiman are open. The Half Pipe is also closed and Kandahar has restricted access.
Please check Nozawaski.com for the latest updates as slopes have been closing due to inadequate snow cover.
SNOWÂ FORECAST:
Today should bring light to moderate snow showers for most of the day with a top up of just under 15cm. Thursday will be a clear sunny day but freezing temperatures and clouds increasing in the afternoon. Friday is looking fine to start with but the clouds will begin to build by the afternoon and we should see heavy snowfall of up to 30cm overnight. This weekend is looking like a great couple of powder days with continuing light snowfall.
Still looking like the snow tap will be turned on fully from next Tuesday the 24th with a few days of constant heavy snow falls and temps as low as -20 degrees. Enjoy the sun while it lasts as the Siberian Express may be making a stop in Nozawa soon.
Check back tomorrow for the latest updates!
