Early snow dump up North overnight in Japan
A nice little snowy news piece from the local news channel in Sapporo, showing 23cm dump overnight. It is the first time that they have had to clear the train tracks this year and even the locals are surprised by the early snow settling on the ground saying it is 18 days earlier than last year.
Some areas in Japan are expecting another good size fall tomorrow and Wednesday with temps dipping well below 0 degrees.
Early Snow also expected in Nozawa
Nozawa Onsen is also expecting about 10cm tomorrow night with temps of -7 degrees and the freezing level dropping below 1000m for the first time this season. A few snow hungry folk in town will no doubt head up for a look.
Anyway all things looking positive at this stage for an early start to the season if this pattern continues..
Last year was later the year before we got a good dump on November 16th so this year we were a lot earlier so just have to wait and see if the cold temps hold and the precipitation comes in.
Here are some reports from November 2014
Amazing how quickly winter rolls around just feels like a few weeks back we were sweating from the summer heat and struggled to get cool. We were even swimming in the mountain streams! Now the blankets are out, heaters are on and the snow is on its way. The anticipation is building and all are wondering when will we get our first turns of the season in?
The November 26th opening is starting to look more like a safe bet but when gambling with Mother Nature in the mountains anything is possible!
