First Snow Nozawa 2022
The Powder Hounds were out yesterday in Nozawa
Looking like a bit of a winter wonderland up top at Yamabiko yesterday with a decent coverage of snow across the slopes. Not enough to get any lifts turning but the main Nagasaka Gondola is open until the end of October so if head up today there should still be enough to make a snowman and throw some snowballs at your friends.
Looks like we may get some more snow tonight with temps remaining below 0 degrees up top. Then a southerly change on Monday will see some more Autumn days again. It is a bit rare to get these falls in mid October so let’s hope it is a sign for a good season ahead.

The sun has already come out up North in Hokkaido at Kurodake Ropeway in the Daisetsuzan National Park. This is one of the most northern ski resorts in Japan so always my go to for early season indications. They have not had a lot of snow yet either but it looked pretty spectacular there yesterday.
Have a great weekend where ever you are and if can make it to Nozawa tomorrow jump on the Gondola and head up it should be pretty spectacular and a little winter immersion.
